Pune Warriors India (PWI) scored a competitive 166 for six against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their IPL 2012 clash at Pune.

Marlon Samuels score a blistering 46, while Robin Uthappa stroked a classy 40. Harmeet Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Punjab with figures of three for 24.

Electing to bat first, PWI openers started gingerly with Sourav Ganguly edging couple of deliveries to fine leg fence.

Finally, Ganguly s misery in the middle came to an end when Dimitri Mascarenhas had the Pune skipper caught by Paul Valthaty for 20.

Two overs later Punjab got the all important breakthrough when a mix up found Jesse Ryder short of his crease and was run-out for eight.

Samuels and Uthappa then joined forces as the duo took the attack to the Pune bowlers stitching an 81-run partnership for the third wicket.

Harmeet Singh finally managed to break the partnership when he had Samuels bowled four short of a half-century.

The Punjab pacer was involved again when he had Callum Ferguson caught of his own bowling.

Uthappa continued his assault smashing the Punjab bowlers to all parts of the park before becoming the third victim of Harmeet Singh.

Manish Pandey and Steven Smith provided the flurry with some lusty blows to fire Pune past 150

Brief Scores: PWI 166 for 6 in 20 overs (Marlon Samuels 46, Robin Uthappa 40; Harmeet Singh 3 for 24) vs KXIP
