Rest of India have been handed the Irani Cup on first-innings lead after the two teams agreed to call of play after tea on Day Five.
Mumbai had reached 160 for four, chasing an improbable 507 for victory, when the decision was taken mutually.
Mumbai batsman Wasim Jaffer was unbeaten on 101 when play was called off.
The two teams have taken an early tea here with Mumbai on 119 for three. Wasim Jaffer is batting on 74 along with skipper Abhishek Nayar (1 not out).
With a result not possible, the two sides have to play a minimum of eight more overs before the match can be called off.
Rest of India picked up two quick wickets, those of Ajinkya Rahane (25) and Rohit Sharma (1), to peg Mumbai at 104 for three.
Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh got his second wicket of the day when he dismissed Rahane off a bat-pad catch at short leg, before Rohit Sharma played his second poor shot of the match as he mistimed a big heave off Pragyan Ojha’s bowling to find Abhimanyu Mithun at mid-off.
Mumbai lost wicketkeeper-batsman Aditya Tare (11) to a superb catch at short leg by Dhawal Kulkarni after lunch.
Mumbai are at 65 for one in 20 overs with Wasim Jaffer (41 not out) and Ajinkya Rahane (11 not out) at the crease.
Mumbai took lunch at 31 for no loss in their chase of 507 on Day Five of the Irani Trophy against Rest of India.
Rest of India declared their second innings at 389 for five, giving Mumbai an improbable target of 500-plus runs to chase for victory.
Baroda skipper Ambati Rayudu remained unbeaten on 156 off 289 balls. His knock included 12 fours and four sixes.
Rest of India lost the wicket of Suresh Raina (71) as they took the first drinks break at 378 for five. Raina charged down the ground trying to hit spinner Vishal Dabholkar over the top, but found the leading edge that carried to Ajinkya Rahane at short third-man.
Ambati Rayudu (147 not out) is still going strong and he was joined in the middle by Wriddhiman Saha (18 not out).
The Rest are scoring at a good rate of a run-a-ball.
After taking an all-important first-innings lead and swelling it up past the 400 mark in the second essay, Rest of India will look to bat Day Five out against Mumbai in the Irani Cup.
Rest of India‘s Ambati Rayudu struck a potentially title winning century as his team took stumps on Day Four at 296 for four. Their lead over the Ranji champions is now 413 runs with just one day to go.
At stumps on Day Four, Rayudu was unbeaten on 118, while Suresh Raina was batting on 40. Their partnership reads 89 runs from 136 balls.
Mumbai have virtually no chance of winning the game now with a Rest victory or a draw seeming likely results. If the match ends in a draw, the Rest will win the Irani Cup on first innings lead.
