Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the fourth day of the first semi-final of Ranji Trophy 2014-15 between Karnataka and Mumbai at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. I am Sandipan Banerjee, and I will be bringing all the updates of the day.

Mumbai finished on a score of 277 for the loss of six wickets after 107 over at the end of the third day while chasing a mammoth 445-run target set by Karnataka. Siddhesh Lad and Abhishek Nayar were batting on scores of 41 and two respectively, with the hopes of qualifying for the final dimming with each passing over.

Mumbai got off to a strong start in their pursuit of the massive target, cruising at 194 for two at one stage. Aditya Tare and Shreyas Iyer scored 98 and 50 respectively, while they were supported by vital knocks from Surya Kumar Yadav (36) and Akhil Herwadkar (31). Mumbai’s hopes of a win were nearly over with a quick flurry of wickets. Abhimanyu Mithun was the main wicket-taker in this regard, collecting three scalps for 49 runs.

The match has seen Karnataka dominate for the most part in the game so far now. After managing to put up a 202-run total in their first innings with Shardul Thakur leading the bowling figures with a haul of four for 61. Mumbai, in reply, were dismissed for a paltry score of 44 as R Vinay Kumar ran through the batting order to collect six wickets for 20 runs in eight overs.
