Yasir Arafat comes to bowl the last over and Andre Russell is bowled by a slower one. Chawla, the man who finished the IPL final, is in the middle. The second ball is also slow and Chawla opens the face of the bat and gets a single. Yadav then gets a single through mid-wicket. And Chawla finishes it again! He lofts it high over mid-on. The fielder runs back and dives forward but can’t get it. It bounces through for a four.

Coulter-Nile will bowl the crucial penultimate over. And he bowls a no-ball. Yadav goes over the top and it goes towards long-on. Agar does a McCullum on the boundary. He loops high in the air and gets the ball back in play while he was airborne. He saves the team three runs there. The batsmen get three while all that happened. The free hit is full and outside the off-stump, and it is missed by Russell. The next ball is hit to the deep for a couple by Russell. Coulter-Nile then bowls a full-toss and Russell can only get a single down the ground. Yadav gets a six then as he pulls a length ball over mid-wicket. That has gone into the second tier. And there is another six over mid0wicket. Only five needed off the las t over.
There are a couple of wides and then Pathan is gone. he finds the man perfectly in the deep at mid-wicket. Suryakumar Yadav gets a single to fine leg. Russell comes on strike and plays it to mid-off. It could have been out had the ball hit the stumps.

Coulter-Nile is into the attack. Suryakumar Yadav misses the first ball. He then gets a single off the next through fine-leg. Yusuf Pathan then gets a six as he pulls a short ball over mid-wicket. Pathan seems to have hurt himself. He was running and then slips over his ankle. He then wastes a lot of time and there is a lot of discussion. Yadav finishes the over with a four through point.
Suryakumar Yadav gets a single off the first ball. Pathan tries to sweep the next and is hit on the pads. Hogg appeals but is turned down. Yadav finally plays out a dot ball. Yadav then tries to sweep but doesn’t get bat onto it. The over is done with a single through long-on. Hogg is done here and he has given only 19 runs off his four overs. Age is just a number!
Ten Doeschate is gone. Yasir Arafat gets the wicket as he plays it straight to long-on. Suryakumar Yadav walks in and there is a top-edge off the first ball and it goes for a six. It was quite an interesting shot. Suryakumar then plays it to mid-wicket for a couple. Yadav then walks across and pulls it over fine-leg for a six. The over is done with Yadav getting three through the leg-side.

Brad Hogg comes back and Pathan gets a single first ball. Then, ten Doeschate gets a single. Pathan then gets a six as he plays across the line and clears mid-wicket. Pathan then places it to fine-leg for a single. Ten Doeschate dances down the track, but Hogg pitches it short and ten Doeschate gets a pads to it as they get a leg-bye.
Ten Doeschate gets a single off the first ball. Pathan hands it back to him then. He then gets a bit of room and cuts it very well behind point for a four. Well played by him on that occasion.
Pathan isn’t able to get the runs, but then pushes through for a couple off the third-ball. Turner has had some trouble in the deep as he seems to have dislocated his finger. Hogg then hits Pathan on the pads and it is given not-out. It may have just hit him outside the off-stump.

 

Pandey is gone. Coulter-Nile gets him with a good yorker. Pandey misses and the stumps are down. Kolkata in deeper trouble. Pathan is the new man in the middle and he gets off the mark first ball.

Brad Hogg is into the attack. Ten Doeschate gets a single first ball. Pandey then follows suit. Hogg is bowling quite well. The old warhorse still has it to make a mark and is doing a good job of things. Still active as a young man. Only singles come off the over.
Agar is into the attack. Gosh! At times one forgets that he bowls as well. He starts off with one that is short and wide. Ten Doeschate hits it to deep cover to get off the mark. Pandey then gets off the mark with a single. Only four runs off the over.
Manish Pandey pulls the second ball through mid-wicket and Ashton Agar misfields it there and it is gone for a four. Pandey then pulls one through wide long-on for a four. Pandey has latched onto those two shortish deliveries.
Uthappa opens the face of the bat and guides a Nathan Coulter-Nile delivery through third-man for a four. And Uthappa is gone. He makes room and tries to pull, but gets the edge to the wicketkeeper.

Uthappa flicks one over mid-on for a four. He plays it with ease and gets all timing behind the shot. Uthappa tries to smash it over off-side, but edges it and goes for a four over third-man.
Paris continues and bowls a wide down the leg-side. Uthappa then hits to mid-on and runs a quick single. The throw comes in and hits the stumps, but Uthappa is home by miles. Pandey then plays one down to mid-off and they get a single. There is some discussion going on about the throw when Uthappa was running it, Though Uthappa was past the crease, replays suggest he could have been in the air. Uthappa then lofts Paris over mid-off for a four. Uthappa then plays one behind point for a single.
Uthappa takes strike to Behrendorff and he gets a single off the third-ball as he flicks through the leg-side. Kallis gets a top-edge and it goes over mid-off and they get a couple. Kallis is gone now. He flicks one straight to short fine-leg. Manish Pandey is the new man and joins his Karnataka teammate Uthappa in the middle. Behrendorff bowls a wide down the leg-side.

Joel Paris starts from the other end and gets Gambhir first ball! Gambhir plays uppishly and offers a single chance to point. Kallis then gets one in his half and he drives it gracefully for a four through extra cover. Very good shot to get off the mark.

Robin Uthappa gets off the mark by hitting the first ball through mid-wicket for a couple and then takes a quick single. Behrendorff is the bowler. He beats Gambhir with the first ball and then the batsman gets off the mark off the next ball.
Narine is bowling and Arafat gets a single first ball. Voges pulls the second and Voges goes for the second. Robin Uthappa fumbles and he is back inside the crease. Voges then gets a single through the leg-side. Arafat then plays through the leg-side and they get two. Arafat then hits it over the top, but gets an edge and is caught. A single is taken off the last ball.

Kallis is back into the attack. The first ball is a dot and Voges cannot get a single. Voges then walks across the stumps and plays it through fine-leg for a four. Arafat is on strike and he gets a four through the off-side. He opens the face of the bat and guides it through point. It went all along the ground. Arafat then gets a couple.
Narine will continue and this should be a tough over for the batsmen. Voges finally gets a four as he slog-sweeps one through the leg-side for a four. Narine pulls the length back and Voges only manages a single. Agar is gone as he is bowled by Narine. Ashton Turner is gone as he tries to sweep across the line and is bowled.

Kuldeep Yadav is back into the attack. Nathan Coulter-Nile tries to sweep the first delivery and gets a top-edge. Kuldeep Yadav runs across to mid-wicket and takes a very good catch. He gets his third-wicket. Ashton Agar is the new man in the middle. Kuldeep Yadav has bowled extremely well and that has helped Kolkata keep a check on the Perth batsmen.

Whiteman moves across his stumps off the second ball and sweeps him behind square for a four. That was very well played by Whiteman, while facing the mystery of Narine. Whiteman then gets a leg-bye. Voges tries a sweep but only gets a single. Perth batsmen seem to be wanting to tackle Narine with the sweep. Whiteman then gets a six as he pulls Narine over mid-wicket for a six. That is very well played by Whiteman. He then tries to sweep another but hits it high in the air, and is well taken by Suryakumar Yadav.

Kallis is back and Whiteman gets a single through the leg-side. Voges then smashes it down the ground but only a single is possible. Kallis bowls a full-toss but only a single is possible as Whiteman hits it down the ground. Voges then pulls a slower one over fine-leg. Voges completes his fifty. He has taken 38 balls. The 100 is also up.
Chawla is back for his final over. Whiteman comes down the ground, but can get a single down the ground. Voges plays it down the ground for another single. After a few dot balls, Whiteman gets a single through the leg-side. Voges finally gets a six as he dances down the ground and manages to beat Ryan ten Doeschate at mid-wicket.
Pathan continues and Voges pulls for a single through the mid-wicket region. Whiteman gets off the mark by sweeping for a single to square-leg. Voges then gets another single through mid-wicket. Whiteman then gets a single down the ground. Voges gets another single down the ground. The Perth batsman are not able to hit it around.
Kuldeep Yadav is back. Marsh gets a single first ball. Voges tries to reverse-sweep but plays it onto Uthappa’s pads. The next ball is a bit fuller and Voges smashes it down the ground for a four. Mitchell Marsh is gone. He charges down the ground and misses. Another wicket for Yadav and another stumping for Uthappa. Sam Whiteman is the new batsman and he plays out a dot ball.

Pathan is in and Voges tries to go over the top, but it only yields a single. The ball goes on the bounce to long-on. Marsh plays a couple of dots before working one to the leg-side for a single. Voges then hits it through the off-side for a single. Marsh also plays it down the ground for a single.
Mitchell Marsh is in. Chawla continues and gets a single first ball. Marsh solidly defends the first ball he faces. Chawla foxes him with a googly and Marsh is hit on the pads, but outside the line of the off-stump. Marsh then hits one down the ground and gets a single. Voges ends the over with a single.
Voges takes a single off the first ball Kuldeep comes back. Simmons dances down the track, but only manages an inside-edge. No damage done. He then someone squirts one away for a single. Voges hits one down the ground and gets a single. Simmons tries to make room again, but digs out a yorker. And he is gone. He charges down the ground, but misses and Uthappa stumps him.

Chawla is back and Simmons slogs the first ball over long-on. Suryakumar Yadav tries to take a catch, but it goes through his hands, bounces and goes for a four. Simmons then pulls one from outside the off-stump and gets a single. Voges then goes over the top through cover and they get a four. Voges then works one through the leg-side for a single. Chawla then bowls a googly that beats Simmons. Robin Uthappa takes it. The last ball is swept powerfully by Simmons and it is a six over mid-wicket.
Pathan is brought back as soon as the fielding restrictions are off. Simmons charges down the ground but cannot get enough bat onto it. After a couple of dots, Simmons places it through the off-side for a single. Voges goes for the reverse-sweep, but it is very well stopped by Kallis at short third-man. Voges then gets a single down the ground. Simmons tries to hit it down the ground, but only a single is possible.
Piyush Chawla is into the attack. So, the spin battery continues. Voges defends the first ball. The second ball is short and Voges pulls it for a four through square-leg for a four. Chawla responds with a couple of dot balls before Voges gets a single down the ground. Simmons makes room but can only get a single down the ground.
Sunil Narine is into the attack. The batsmen knock it around for singles to get going. This is an important phase. Gambhir usually gets him to bowl one over in the powerplay and then saves Narine for the slog-overs. Narine has Simmons thinking on a few occasions as he can’t get bat to ball. A good over. Immediately makes a difference and halts the momentum.
Kallis continues. And there is another blow on his hand as Simmons smashes it back. Voges then pulls one over the leg-side and that has gone for a four. It was almost a one-handed four. Kallis then strays on the pads and Voges works it fine for a four.
Kuldeep Yadav brought in early. The batsman play cautiously before Simmons gets down on one knee and sweeps it over square-leg for a four. The over gets done with a four through the off-side. Simmons on fire!
Kallis starts off from the other end. Voges dabs it to mid-on and sets off for a quick run. Narine runs around and throws it, but it misses the stumps. Voges would have been gone there. Simmons gets a four as he places one behind square. He then lofts it over mid-off, but only a single is taken. Voges hits one back uppishly, but Kallis only gets one hand to it in his follow-through. And, it goes to ground. Kallis bears the brunt of the pain and he calls for some medical attention. He then gets ready to bowl the last ball. Voges hits it back on the bounce and Kallis has to stop it. He has a word and shares a smile with Voges.
Yusuf Pathan will open the bowling with his fastish off-spin. Interesting move by Kolkata. Voges gets off the mark second bal by playing it through the leg-side. Simmons opens the face of the bat first ball and guides it fine through third-man for a four. Very well played by Simmons. Showing his deft touch on this occasion. Simmons then charges down the ground and hits it for a four over mid-off.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2014 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and the Perth Scorchers. Kolkata are coming off two wins and are looking to do well in this tournament. Perth Scorchers had that magnificent victory against Dolphins with Mitchell Marsh hitting those two sixes off the last two balls. These are two very good teams and have had some consistency behind them. Kolkata have won two out of the last three Indian Premier Leagues (IPLs) whereas Perth have reached the finals of all the Big Bash Leagues (BBLs) so far and managed to win it this year.

Kolkata have that copious strength in their unit and that will hold them in good stead. There is a possibility of Nathan Coulter-Nile coming in for the Perth Scorchers. I am Nishad Pai Vaidya and will take you through this game. This promises to be a very good encounter here between two teams hungry for success at the CLT20 2014.
