Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog for the first day’s play between Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match is the Group B clash in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2015-16 tournament, India’s premier competition in the domestic cricket circuit. Both the teams are traditional powerhouses, with Mumbai being the team to have won most number of Ranji titles. In this particular season, there’s little that separates the two teams. Mumbai are at the top of the table with two wins from four matches. They have so far secured 17 points. Uttar Pradesh are placed fourth in the group, with same number of wins from four matches. However, they have secured 13 points so far.

Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh encounters have always produced great games. However, this particular time it is going to be a special game, since both the teams will have services of its top players. While Uttar Pradesh will be lead by limited-overs specialist Suresh Raina and also have Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mumbai will be bolstered by the return of Rohit Sharma, who has been released by the team management for this particular Ranji game.

Uttar Pradesh will also get the services of young Sarfaraz Khan, who missed out a few games after scoring a supreme 155 on his debut for the side. With so many stars featuring, this promises to be a cracker of a game. It will be interesting to see how the pitch behaves.
