Hello and welcome to CricketCountryâs live coverage of Match 17 of ICC Womenâs T20 2016 at Bangalore on Saturday. New Zealand women take on South Africa women in Match No. 17 of ICC Womenâs T20 World Cup 2016 at Bangaloreâs M Chinnaswamy Stadium. New Zealand emerged as a better side against Australia in their last match as they were able to chase down a modest total of 104 with 22 balls to spare, whereas Sune Luus inspired South Africa Women crushed Ireland by 67 runs in their second group match of the tournament. Just two runs come off her first over. Morna Nielsen is sharing the new ball with her. After four overs, South Africa were 17 for no loss. However, they lost their first wicket in the form of Dane van Niekerk in the fifth over for 18 runs. She hit three fours in her innings before being bowled by Morna Nielsen. It’s a good start by New Zealand. They have not allowed the opposition to get off to a brisk start and they have picked up the all-important wicket of van Niekerek as well. OUT! South African innings was built largely upon the 41-run opening stand between Dane van Niekerk (20) and Trisha and the fifth wicket partnership of 42 runs forged between Lizelle and Dinesha Devnarain (24). But it was Sune Luus bowling figures 5 for 8, which stole the show in their victory over Ireland Women. New Zealand, led by Leigh Kasperek, put in an excellent display of spin bowling to restrict Australia to a mere total of 103. Kasperek put in a great display of off-spin bowling to pick up three early wickets in the power play overs with Erin Bermingham picking up two wickets and Sophie Devine chipped in with a wicket. Rachel Priest remained the highest run scorer for them making 34 runs while skipper Suzie Bates made 23 runs. New Zealand Women much like the men’s team are guaranteed of a place in the semi-finals, while South Africa Women will look for a victory to be in contention of a semi-final place.
