Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the second day of the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and England at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. This is Suraj Choudhari, and I will be presenting to you the live updates from the day’s play. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first on the track that has lots of runs in store for batsman, and begins to assist the spinners over the course of play. Pakistan finished on a commanding score of 286 for the loss of four wickets at stumps on Day 1, thanks mainly to the efforts of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez. Malik, who made his first Test appearance in nearly five years, led the way with an impressive century, his third in the format. LIVE CRICKET SCORE England 56/0 in 21 Overs: STUMPS! That’s it for today. Nothing special in the next six overs as well as the English openers comfortably score the opening 50 runs for no loss of wicket. Would be interesting to see how things unfold on Day 2. It’s time for tea with Pakistan strongly placed at 499 for four, Shoaib Malik is on 231 not out, accompanied by Asad Shafiq on 107 not out. These two batsmen have added 248 runs for the fifth wicket.

They have not lost a wicket in this session, and Malik and Shafiq have added as many as 241 runs for the fifth wicket. Malik encrypts his name with gold in the history of cricket with his splendid double-century which came at the right moment. The duo also brought up 200 runs stand between them and further dominated the entire English attack. Shafiq too has achieved his 8th Test ton and will now look to launch an attack on the English bowlers. Shoaib Malik is progressing towards his maiden double-century and playing a career defining innings in his comeback Test whereas Asad Shafiq has quietly moved on to 80s. The duo have anchored the Pakistani innings and achieved a good total. English bowlers still looking for a wicket but Pakistan have not provided any room for error. LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 389/4 in 116 overs:Â Pakistan undoubtedly dominated the first session of day two of the first Test with 103 runs being scored in 29 overs. Malik and Shafiq remain unbeaten on 168 and 66 respectively. The partnership has been instrumental and the Pakistani batsmen have scored on every lose opportunity provided to them by English bowlers. LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 342/4 in 101 overs: Shoaib Malik taking Adil Rashid for cleaners with his exquisite footwork and not letting him settle. He reached his maiden 150 with a boundary which is also his finest performance in Test cricket. He’s playing a sensible innings and has surpassed his career best score of 148* in style. English bowlers are having a difficult time in breaking the partnership which is scoring runs a good pace now. With spin in command for England,  Pakistani batsmen bringing their experience into play and looking to attack Adil Rashid. English bowlers trying their level best to break the partnership. LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 291/4 in 91 overs: Pakistan are well placed at 291 with two determined batsmen at the crease. Not much of a seam movement for the English bowlers and are testing the Pakistani batsmen with short pitched deliveries. Hafeez was dismissed just two runs short of what would have been his ninth Test hundred. He set the platform for Pakistan’s domination with the bat on the opening day by sharing a 168-run stand for the second wicket with Malik after opener Shan Masood was dismissed for a score of two with just five runs on the board. The highlight of the day however, was Younis Khan, who became the highest run-getter for Pakistan in Tests, surpassing Javed Miandad’s record of 8,832 runs. Younis was dismissed for a score of 38 off 57 balls, with skipper Misbah-ul-Haq departing after scoring just three runs. Malik and Asad Shafiq were batting at the end of the day, with Malik setting his sights at a possible double-ton.
