Ahmed Shehzad was unbeaten on 126 for his third century but Mohammad Hafeez missed his hundred by four runs as Pakistan punished New Zealand bowlers on a flat Sheikh Zayed Stadium pitch. At close of day’s play Azhar Ali was 46 not out. Pakistan kept the same XI they played during their 356-run win against Australia at the same venue last week while New Zealand included both their spinners in the side, AFP reported.

Brief scores:

Pakistan 269 for 1 (Mohammad Hafeez 96, Ahmed Shehzad 126*, Azhar Ali 46*; Corey Anderson 1 for 31) vs New Zealand.
