Good Evening & Assalam Walekum! Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Match 10 of the Asia Cup T20 2016 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka on Friday. We will be bringing to you all the live updates from today’s action. Both the teams are out of the tournament after their poor show in the group stages. The outcome of the match thus holds little relevance. Though an inconsequential one, the match will give both the teams one final chance to redeem themselves and regain some confidence ahead of the ICC World T20. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Asia Cup T20 2016, Match 10 at Dhaka.

While Pakistan have struggled with their batting — and to some extent fielding too — throughout the tournament, Sri Lanka have been poor in all the departments. Barring Lasith Malinga, none of their bowler looked good enough to pose a threat. But the captain too broke down after his match-winning performance in the first game and did not play any further part in the competition. Pakistan’s bowling has been their strength, with Mohammad Aamer’s comeback giving it a further boost. But unless they fix their batting woes and get a settled line-up, the future looks very dim.

Umar Akmal is the Man-of-the-Match for his 37-ball 48. This brings an end to the league stage of the Asia Cup T20 2016. We are now left with one final game in the tournament; the epic clash for the title between the two best teams of the tournament India and hosts Bangladesh on Sunday, March 6. It should be a cracker of a game, with a capacity crowd in attendance. Join us then, as we will bring to you the entire coverage of the match. Time to say goodbye for now, take care! Ciao!!

The tweet by Kumar Sangakkara says it all!

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 151/4 in 19.2 overs: And that’s all over, but not without some drama. Malik hit the second ball of Perera’s over straight to the mid-off, where Kula dropped him and conceded the winning single for Pakistan. Ironically, Perera had taken a stunner off his bowling just a couple of balls earlier. But Kula did not reciprocate. The match could have become a bit more interesting had the wicket fallen. Well, as it happens, Pakistan win by six wickets. This is some respite for the beleagured team before the World T20. Sri Lanka will head to India without knowing what to do with this side? They are utterly disorganized and d not even have a proper XI to field. BATTING: Shoaib Malik 13(17), Iftikhar Ahmed 0(0)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 150/4 in 19 overs: 10 needed now from two overs. Will this over seal the deal for Pakistan? The first four balls concede three runs before the monstrous hit of the fifth ball that gets Umar Akmal six runs and levels the scores. Akmal tries to finish off the match on the last ball with an encore of the previous hit, but gets caught brilliantly by Perera at long-off. Had the hit cleared the fence, it would have brought his team’s win and his fifty. But he misses the fifty as well as the chance to score the winning run. BATTING: Shoaib Malik 12(15), Iftikhar Ahmed 0(0)

OUT! Umar Akmal c Perera b Kulasekara 48(37)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 141/3 in 18 overs: Eight runs come off Kulasekara’s all-important 17th over. It started with a four of the first ball. Four more runs came off it. Akmal and Malik are taking Pakistan towards win here. The 18th over is being bowled by Chameera, who starts off well. Oh boy! Some silly work by keeper Dickwella gifts Pakistan four byes. This is stupid cricket. Just when the pressure was to be sustained, one act has released it completely. Its effect can be seen by the boundary he scores in the over. Things just a formality for Pakistan now. This pair is finishing second game for them. BATTING: Umar Akmal 41(33), Shoaib Malik 10(13)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 121/3 in 16 overs: Chameera returns to bowl a tight over, that conceded just two runs. The asking rate has again gone to 7.5. Though it is just four overs left now. But one more such over and the game will become interesting. It is difficult though to contain these two batsmen, and Lanka will have to take wickets to make a match out of it. BATTING: Umar Akmal 29(24), Shoaib Malik 7(10)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 119/3 in 15 overs: The 14th over is bowled by Herath, who gives away six singles in the over. Not much trouble for the batsmen, who thrive in such situations. Malik is exceptional in chases, while Akmal has been highly volatile. The 15th over is bowled by Siriwardena, who gives away 19 runs of his over. The description of his six balls read 3,2,6,4,0,4. He bowls two deliveries tad too short to Akmal who pounces on them and hits them at deep mid-wicket for six and four respectively. The last ball is again hit for a four piercing the gap between cover and mid-off. This over has tilted the game completely in favour of Pakistan. BATTING: Umar Akmal 28(23), Shoaib Malik 6(5)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 94/3 in 13 overs: Milinda Siriwardena comes into the attack and gets the big fish Sarfraz, who was threatening to take the game away. This wicket has pulled things back a bit and Sri Lanka can sense they have a chance here. Sarfraz was trapped in front of the stumps trying to sweep one down the leg side. Shoaib Malik has replaced him and the same duo is now in operation that won the match against UAE for their side from a precarious situation. BATTING: Umar Akmal 9(15), Shoaib Malik 0(1)

OUT! Sarfraz Ahmed lbw b Siriwardena 38(27)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 93/2 in 12 overs: Another good over for Pakistan after a few dull overs on the trot. Sarfraz takes on the old warhorse Herath and picks up two fours off first two balls. Akmal is still tentative with his footwork against the spinners. The 12th over is bowled by Perera, who gives away two boundaries. Both come off Sarfraz’s blade, and he is taking the equation closer now. The gap between the balls and runs required has come down sharply in last two overs. BATTING: Sarfraz Ahmed 38(26), Umar Akmal 8(11)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 70/2 in 10 overs: Chameera returns after that dreadful first over, where he gave away 16 runs. But bowls a decent second over, and Sri Lanka’s third consecutive. He keeps the pressure going by not giving away any freebies. Yet Pakistan take six from the over and reach to 70. Lanka need spin-to-win theory here, as the Pakistan batsmen have struggled against spin so far. BATTING: Sarfraz Ahmed 18(17), Umar Akmal 5(8)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 64/2 in 9 overs: What a game Dilshan is having here! Scored unbeaten 75 first, and then returned to take a wicket of the first ball he bowled. Sharjeel’s brief yet sparkling cameo comes to an end. Umar Akmal comes in and survives a huge appeal of the first ball. In the next over, ninth of the innings, Akmal again survives a close lbw appeal. He is living dangerously here, and is tentative against the spin. Sri Lankan spinners are weaving a comeback in the match. Last two overs have been great for them. BATTING: Sarfraz Ahmed 14(13), Umar Akmal 3(6)

OUT! Sharjeel Khan c Kapugedara b Dilshan 31(24)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 58/1 in 7 overs: Rangana Herath is brought in to stop the carnage. But the veteran spinner is hit for a boundary by the young Sharjeel, who looks in no mood to stop now. This is his fifth four now, in addition to one six. He is justifying his selection with a quick-fire cameo here. Eight come from the over; a boundary and four singles. Pakistan have started strong here despite losing Hafeez early. BATTING: Sharjeel Khan 31(23), Sarfraz Ahmed 12(8)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 50/1 in 6 overs: It is time for some Dushmantha Chammera stuff now. This young man has developed some serious reputation of being a good fast bowler pretty quickly. He starts off with pacy delivery angling away from Sharjeel, who shows his intent to hit Chameera. The next ball is again a dot but the third ball initiates the hitting spree. The third ball is fullish in length and is picked by the batsman who hits it over mid-on for a couple-of-bounces- four. The next is hit towards the mid-wicket boundary where a Siriwardena mis-field gifts away a boundary. But the next two are again special; one over the deep mid-wicket region and other in front of the third man. 50 is up in the power-plays. Sharjeel is a star all of a sudden. BATTING: Sharjeel Khan 25 (20), Sarfraz Ahmed 10(5)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 34/1 in 5 overs: Dasun Shanaka now introduced into the attack, and he is welcomed with a boundary. Sarfraz plays an exquisite drive and shows just why he has been promoted up the order. The stumper has been fantastic for the men in green over past few months. He takes a single on the next and then Sharjeel plays the next three for just a single off the fifth ball, which was fielded well at mid-on, or else could have raced to a boundary. Sarfraz plays out the final ball. Six come from the over. BATTING: Sharjeel Khan 9(14), Sarfraz Ahmed 10(5)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 28/1 in 4 overs: An out-of-the-box move by the Sri Lankan skipper, as he brings in the un-experienced spinner Shehan Jayasuriya into the attack. The power-plays are on and the decision could well backfire. And it does, Hafeez gets two boundaries off first two balls. Easy pickings these for the professor. Hang on, is this a masterstroke? Jayasuriya gets the big fish Hafeez here. He came charging in but held back at the last minute, only to give a simple return catch to the bowler. Pakistan have lost the first wicket and the Lankan ploy has worked. A surprise from Pakistan too, as Sarfraz walks in to bat at No. 3 and gets off the mark straight away with a four. BATTING: Sharjeel Khan 8(11), Sarfraz Ahmed 5(2)

OUT! Mohammad Hafeez c & b Jayasuriya 14(11)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 15/0 in 3 overs: Hafeez plays out the first two deliveries for no run and then takes a single. A circumspect Sharjeel plays the next three deliveries, and is beaten by the wily Kula. Just a single comes off the over. Another good over by Kulasekara. BATTING: Sharjeel Khan 8(10), Mohammad Hafeez 6(8)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 14/0 in 2 overs: Thisara Perera comes into the attack and is welcomed with a boundary by Hafeez, who effortlessly pierced the gap between the fielders at cover at point region and took four runs. Perera keeps the line outside off stump and bowls a wide in the process. The next three balls do not get any run for Pak but the strike is rotated on the penultimate ball. Sharjeel faces the last ball and plays an Adam Gilchrist-like shot towards the deep square leg region for a six. First maximum for Pakistan, and it comes from the man who has the reputation of doing it at will. BATTING: Sharjeel Khan 8(7), Mohammad Hafeez 5(5)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, PAK 2/0 in 1 over: Nuwan Kulasekara opens the Lankan attack and Sharjeel Khan and Mohammad Hafeez come out in pursuit of 151. Sharjeel takes the guard against Kula, making it an interesting duel. He is a southpaw and Kulasekara’s natural angle is going away from the left-handers. It starts the same way and Sharjeel goes chasing behind the balls. He manages a couple from the over, which could have been the first boundary had Shanaka not dived and stopped it. Lanka start well. BATTING: Sharjeel Khan 2(6), Mohammad Hafeez 0(0)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 150/4 in 20 overs: Wahab Riaz delivers the last over of the Sri Lankan innings, which witnesses nine runs being scored. Sri Lanka still manage to finish on a good total. Going by the tournamnet trend, the target looks difficult to chase. But you can never say anything with the Pakistanis, for you may never know when the unpredictable side hits you. They will be happy the way they pulled things back. Dilshan proved today the value of experience and class with his unbeaten 75, possibly a match winning score. Pakistan need 151 to win.

BATTING: Tillakaratne Dilshan 75(56), Milinda Siriwardena 4(4)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 141/4 in 19 overs: Aamer comes in to bowl the 19th over of the innings and Dilshan decides to take on him single-handedly. It seems he has had enough of the youngsters coming in and perishing. He faces all the six deliveries and scores 13 off the over. One more comes from a wide, making it 14 off the over. The first boundary hit by him was the highlight of the over; a reverse Dilscoop of sorts, as the batsman changed grip and scooped it towards the third man for a four. Another highlight is Irfan dropping a catch at the third-man, but he still manages to save the boundary. BATTING: Tillakaratne Dilshan 69(52), Milinda Siriwardena 1(2)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 127/4 in 18 overs: What an over by the ‘selfie-stick’!! Irfan bowls a crucial 18th over of the innings, gives away just two runs and picks up two wickets. Kapugedara is the first to go, who goes for a wild slog and completely misses it. The next man in, Dasun Shanaka, has been touted as a big hitter. But he has hardly hi anything from his bat so far. He too departs as he fails to read a deceiving slower one from Irfan. Sri Lanka are completely losing the plot. Their batting beyond Dilshan, Chandimal and to some extent Mathews has been pathetic. BATTING: Tillakaratne Dilshan 56(46), Milinda Siriwardena 1(2)

OUT! Chamara Kapugedara b Irfan 2(3), Dasun Shanaka b Irfan 0(2)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 125/2 in 17 overs: Aamer is back, and Dilshan brings in his fifty. This is the 12th fifty of his T20I career. He celebrates it immediately with a four towards the deep square leg region. Chamara Kapugedara is the new man in. Eight come off the over and as I said before, Pakistan are pulling things back. They should be happy with their performance in last few overs. BATTING: Tillakaratne Dilshan 55(45), Chamara Kapugedara 2(2)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 117/2 in 16 overs: Surprising choice this by Afridi. Throws the ball to Shoaib Malik in the 16th over. But the veteran rises to the skipper’s call, and delivers a tight over. He gives just four singles off the first five balls and frustrates the batsmen. The last ball is flighted and Jayasuriya looks to clear the long-off, only to find Sharjeel stationed there. He is everywhere today, as he takes his second catch. Pakistan are pulling things back smartly here. BATTING: Tillakaratne Dilshan 49(41), Chamara Kapugedara 0(0)

OUT! Shehan Jayasuriya c Sharjeel b Malik 4(6)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 113/1 in 15 overs: Wahab Riaz gets the first breakthrough for his team. Chandimal pulls it awkwardly straight to the mid-wicket. The ball was banged in short by Wahab, and Chandimal could manage only to hit it straight to Sharjeel, who catches it without any problem. Chandimal departs to a huge applause by his team-mates and the fans who have gathered. Shehan Jayasuriya walks in and is served with short-pitch stuff. When Dilshan takes the strike, the same is being thrown at him. Just three come off the over, good one this for Pakistan. BATTING: Tillakaratne Dilshan 48(39), Shehan Jayasuriya 2(2)

OUT! Dinesh Chandimal c Sharjeel b Wahab 58(49)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 110/0 in 14 overs: Nawaz comes back but meets the same fate. The poor chap is hit for a huge six off the first ball by Chandimal, who sends a flighted delivery near the sight-screen. Takes a single off the second and leaves it to Dilshan, who takes a couple off the next and hits the last ball for a four towards the deep square leg region. 13 come off the over, which also brings in the hundred-run partnership between the duo. What a statement it has been by them! There was a need for the seniors to step-up, and they have done exactly the same. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 58(48), Tillakaratne Dilshan 46(36)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 97/0 in 13 overs: Irfan is brought into the attack. It was on expected lines that either one of Irfan and Aamer had to be brought back to get a breakthrough, and here he is. Meanwhile, Chandimal brings in his fifty; the third of his T20I career. Irfan controls the damage for the first five balls, where he gives just three runs. But the last ball is dispatched for a customary last-ball four by Chandimal. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 51(46), Tillakaratne Dilshan 41(32)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 90/0 in 12 overs: Another Afridi over, and another boundary! Chandimal is racing towards his boundary here. He flicks the first ball bowled down the leg side for a boundary behind the keeper. Afridi is clueless. The over-reliance on Aamer and Irfan is clearly showing here. The moment they were being dealth with, Pakistan ran out of ideas. And now the Lankan openers are running away with the game. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 49(42), Tillakaratne Dilshan 36(30)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 81/0 in 11 overs: Riaz continues. He is bowling well but both Chandimal and Dilshan are now extremely comfortable in the middle and dealing with him effortlessly. He concedes three fours off the over and ends up giving 15 runs. Two fours come off Chandimal’s blade; one towards thrid man and one at covers. Dilshan hits the last ball behind point for a four, prompting Afridi for a qucik facepalm moment. Sri Lanka are on fire here! BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 45(37), Tillakaratne Dilshan 35(29)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 66/0 in 10 overs: Afridi continues and the boundaries keep coming against the spinners. Chandimal takes on him and hits the first ball of the over for a four towards the long on boundary. He puts the pressure straightaway on Afridi, who does well and gives away just three singles of the next five deliveries. Pakistan need wickets, as Sri Lanka have managed to reach the half-way stage with all their wickets intact. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 36(33), Tillakaratne Dilshan 29(27)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 59/0 in 9 overs: Wahab Riaz comes into the attack now and pace is back. It was quite unfortunate for him to miss out on the matches after the India clash where Virat Kohli took on him, scoring 15 off his first over in a low scorer. The team management lost confidence on the speedster and dropped him from the remaining games, when they should have backed him. He makes a good start today, hitting the right lines from the start. Just three come off the over. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 30(29), Tillakaratne Dilshan 28(25)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 56/0 in 8 overs: No boundary is scored from Afridi’s second over. But the Lankan duo still manages to score five from the over. The partnership is now approaching fifty run-mark. Nawaz returns to bowl the second over after that horrific start. But he is thrashed once again for a four in the long off region. He makes a decent come-back though, giving just one run of the remaining balls. The fifty is up on the board and Lankans are off to a flier. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 27(23), Tillakaratne Dilshan 28(25)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 44/0 in 6 overs: Afridi comes in to bowl in the fifth over, a huge risk in the power-play overs to introduce spin. He straightaway creates a chance but the giant Irfan, who is a weak link in the field, cant capitalise on it. Chandimal gets a boundary. But the next over by Nawaz, a left-arm spinner, spells disaster. The newbie is thrashed by Dilshan for a four, six, four and four and ends up conceding 18 off the over. A big one. The power-plays end on a fantastic note for Sri Lanka. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 15(16), Tillakaratne Dilshan 27(21)

Spin from both ends!

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 19/0 in 4 overs: The ‘selfie stick’ Irfan continues. He throws tried and tested short pitched stuff at Chandimal, which is fiery and well directed. A couple of singles are taken before Chandimal smashes the last ball of the over towards a cover boundary region for a four. Meanwhile, just to update all those who joined late; Pakistan won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat. Changes: Pakistan – OUT: Khurram, Sami, Anwar. IN: Iftikhar, Nawaz and Wahab. Sri Lanka make a forced change as Mathews goes out due to injury and Dickwella replaces him. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 11(12), Tillakaratne Dilshan 7(12)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 13/0 in 3 overs: Aamer continues and bowls impeccable lines upfront. Dilshan finds it difficult to negotiate with him and struggles to finds gaps. But not this time, as the fourth ball of the over has been pulled efficiently towards the deep square leg boundary. Aamer is not impressed with himself; a rare diversion from line costs him a boundary. But he comes back well and does not give away another run. Just four come from the over of that single ball. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 6(7), Tillakaratne Dilshan 6(11)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 9/0 in 2 overs: Mohammad Irfan now comes into the attack and starts impressively. Just three singles from the over where he almost got Dilshan on a delivery that slanted away from the batsman and reaches to Sarfraz behind the stumps. The carry is always good when Irfan is bowling. Good understanding this by the batsmen, if they can’t take a boundary from the over, simply rotate strike. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 6(7), Tillakaratne Dilshan 2(5)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE & UPDATES, SL 6/0 in 1 over: Aamer starts the proceedings just the way he did against India, albeit minus the result. The first ball comes in at a sharp pace and hits Chandimal’s pads. A huge appeal follows, which is turned down by the Indian umpire Anil Chaudhary. He continues to disturb Chandimal before he rotates strike off the fourth delivery. Dilshan comes in and gets the same welcome, an in-swinging full-toss hits on his pads and appeal follows. But no success. He takes a single and Chandimal sends the last ball of the over, a rare widish delivery by Aamer, to a boundary. BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 5(5), Tillakaratne Dilshan 1(1)

Sri Lankan openers Dinesh Chandimal and Tillkaratne Dilshan walk out. Mohammad Aamer has the ball in his hand. The crowd turnout is decent. All set to start!

Sri Lanka: Dinesh Chandimal (c), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Shehan Jayasuriya, Milinda Siriwardana, Chamara Kapugedera, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Thisara Perera, Dasun Shanaka, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dushmantha Chameera, Rangana Herath.

Pakistan: Iftikhar Ahmed, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi (c), Mohammad Nawaz, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Aamer, Mohammad Irfan.

6:30 PM IST: TOSS TIME: Shahid Afridi gets it right at the toss and decides to bowl first. He had a new Sri Lankan captain to join him at the toss; Dinesh Chandimal. Pakistan have made three changes while Sri Lanka have made a forced change as make-shift skipper Angelo Mathews too is out.

The crowd turnout for the game should not be much, considering the hosts are not involved in the match. Even Thursday’s game between India and UAE was played in front of a handful of spectators. However, considering it is Friday, a ‘jumma’, which holds significance in this part of the world, Pakistan can draw considerable amount of support. The pitch is expected to support the bowlers early on, as has been the case so far, and later the dew might come into play. Toss, as always, will be an important factor.
