Good evening! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket score and updates’ post of the second One-Day International (ODI) of the three-match series between Pakistan and West Indies at the Providence Stadium, Guyana. I am Ayush Gupta, and I will be bringing all the live cricket scores and updates as well as funny bits from the social media universe this riveting contest. Amidst the entire buzz regarding Pakistan’s West Indies tour, the Men in Green have suffered a major setback as two of their all-time greatest players i.e Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan have announced their retirement after the completion of the Test series which will be followed by the ODI series. Against the run of play, West Indies stunned Pakistan in the first ODI which was played at the very same venue on April 7. Pakistan, riding on Mohammad Hafeez’s splendid 88 off 91 deliveries posted a challenging total of 308. Ahmed Shehzad and Shoaib Malik cracked their respective fifties as well. In their chase, West Indies saw Evin Lewis (47), Kieran Powell (61) getting good starts but failing to capitalise. But it was Jason Mohammad who walked in at No.5 and changed the game in no time. Mohammad demolished the strong Pakistan bowling attack by scoring an unbeaten 91 off just 58 deliveries with the help of 11 boundaries and 3 mammoth sixes. Ashley Nurse also played a vital knock of unbeaten 34 from just 15 deliveries, forming a match-winning 50-run stand in 27 deliveries.

This victory has not only put West Indies in front in the three-game series but also, more importantly, it turned out to be a historical feat for West Indies. The Caribbean side registered its first-ever successful chase of 300 or more. Prior to this victory, Pakistan had won the Twenty20 International (T20I) series by 3-1. But having gained the winning momentum in the ODI series, the hosts have an opportunity to win the second ODI and achieve an unassailable lead in the 50-over game format.
