Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live updates of Day 5 of the third and the final Test between Pakistan and West Indies at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. I am Pramod Ananth and I will be bringing you the live updates of the day’s play. As we enter the final Day’s play, Pakistan are just 9 West Indies wicket away from a series victory in the Caribbean – they’re first ever Test series victory in West Indies since their first tour in 1957-58. But given the way West Indies have displayed resolute batting in tough times, the Day Five proceedings won’t be easy for Pakistan.

The biggest threat for West Indies has been Yasir Shah. Yasir – the second innings giant – has rammed through the West Indies batting order and has dismissed 14 batsmen in the second innings (6 in Kingston, 7 in Barbados and 1 here). West Indies need 297 runs to win the final Test and the series, but to bat on a Day Five wicket against a lethal bowling attack will not be an easy task for Jason Holder and his men.

The priority for the hosts would be to bat out the entire day. But with their in-form opener Kieran Powell already back in the dressing room, things will not be easy. The hosts will have to ensure of at least batting out the entire first session without losing any wicket to put the pressure back on Pakistan. Roston Chase will be the lynchpin for the way the Barbadian has played in the series. Shai Hope and Holder too will have to present absolute dead bat if West Indies want to maintain their challenge.

As for Pakistan, the path to victory is already under construction as Yasir did the early damage by getting Powell. With the Day Five wicket available, Yasir will be the main weapon for Misbah-ul-Haq. Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Aamer and Hasan Ali will have the responsibility of getting some early wickets so that Yasir can come along and inflict the damage.

With the fact that Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan are bidding farewell to international cricket, Pakistan will be hoping to register May 14, 2017, in golden words in their history giving the two legends the perfect ending. And I as a cricket fan and a writer feel extremely privileged to get the opportunity of covering this last match of the two legends from Pakistan. #MisYou
