Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the first One-Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Thursday, I am Ayush Gupta and I will be bringing you all the updates. The hosts will look to bounce back after their 2-0 defeat in the Twenty20 International (T20I) series, which the tourists won despite making two identical low scores while batting first. Zimbabwe’s bowling and fielding was impressive, but it has been their batting that has left them down. Zimbabwe will have to put up a better performance in this regard, as they cannot afford to lose matches despite their bowlers doing well to put pressure on their opponents. Thus, completing a convincing 131-run win over the minnows Zimbabwe at their own dockyard, Pakistan are comfortably a game up in the three-match series and would defenitely look to seal the series in the next game just a day after on Saturday. However, As things stand for Zimbabwe, all is not lost for them and they have all the chance to make a comeback and keep the series alive in the next game. All they need to focus at present is their batting, that has indeed been troubling them of late. However, if Yasir Shah continues his deadly form just like he did today, it would defenitely require a lot more homework than asummed earlier.

With that being said, it’s me Ayush Gupta who says good bye for now. However, before you leave, take some time out to read the macth report by Rishad D’Souza.

Man of the Match: Yasir Shah (Pakistan)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 128 in 37 Overs: THAT’S IT!!!! Pakistan have wrapped up the game with a convincing and thumping 131-run win over the hosts Zimbabwe as leg-spinner Yasir Shah claims six for 26, which is indeed a tough bowling figure in ODI cricket, as Pakistan go 1-0 up in the three match series. BATTING: John Nyumbu 2 (5)

OUT! Tinashe Panyangara c Imad Wasim b Yasir Shah 4 (6)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 127/9 in 36 Overs: AND AGAIN!!!! Yasir Shah is on a roll here as he claims his fifth wicket of the game in the form of the skipper, Elton Chigumbura for 22, after he was caught off Mohammad Rizwan, followed by Graeme Cremer, who goes for a couple after being trapped leg-before by Shoaib Malik. Things more or less seem to be over for Zimbabwe from hereon as they are eight wickets down already and only a miracle can save them from hereon. BATTING: Tinashe Panyangara 4 (4), John Nyumbu 1 (1)

OUT! Luke Jongwe b Shoaib Malik 0 (5), Elton Chigumbura c Mohammad Rizwan b Yasir Shah 22 (30), Graeme Cremer lbw b Shoaib Malik 2 (4)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 107/6 in 33 Overs: GONE AGAIN, AND WHAT A CATCH!!!! Mutumbani comes in and goes just like that as Yasir Shah has once again claimed the wicket. He goes for three after being caught brilliantly by Mohammad Hafeez in the first slip. Things indeed start to look ugly for Zimbabwe from hereon as Luke Jongwe comes in. BATTING: Elton Chigunmbura 9 (22), Luke Jongwe 0 (4)

OUT! Richmond Mutumbani c Mohammad Hafeez b Yasir Shah 3 (5)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 102/5 in 31 Overs: GONE!!!! Another one goes, and it’s Sikandar raza who departs for mere 19 after being caught by Shoaib Malik off Yasir Shah. Half of the team is dismissed just within the first 100 runs and they really need to punch up from hereon to have any chance of winning this game. Richmond Mutumbani comes in. BATTING: Elton Chigunmbura 6 (18), Richmond Mutumbani 1 (1)

OUT! Sikandar Raza c Shoaib Malik b Yasir Shah 19 (40)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 90/4 in 26 Overs: GONE!!!! Just as they seemed to be going good, Pakistan have managed to earn another breakthrough, and it’s Sean Williams who has been dismissed for 26 after being bowled by Shoaib Malik. Skipper, Elton Chigumbura is out now. BATTING: Sikandar Raza 15 (28), Elton Chigunmbura 1 (1)

OUT! Sean Williams b Shoaib Malik 26 (31)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 88/3 in 25 Overs: Zimbabwe seem to have settled down following the htree quick dismissals as they tend to move on and score the runs free-flowingly. Williams seem to be playing good, while Raza too seems to be supporting him accordingly. BATTING: Sean Williams 26 (30), Sikandar Raza 14 (24)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 56/3 in 18 Overs: GONE!!!! Hamilton Masakadza too departs for cheap as he is bowled again by Yasir Shah for 15. Zimbabwe just don’t seem to be strong enough to put up a healthy partnership as they keep losing wickets at regular intervals which is eventually going to cost them at a later stage in the match. Sikandar Raza is the new man in. BATTING: Sean Williams 7 (11), Sikandar Raza 1 (1)

OUT! Hamilton Masakadza b Yasir Shah 15 (34)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 38/2 in 14 Overs: GONE!!!! Brian Chari is the next man to depart as he has been bowled by Yasir Shah for 16. Zimbabwe need to save their wickets in order to chase this challenging total down. Sean Williams is the new man in and has a maammoth responisbility over his shoulders. BATTING: Hamilton Masakadza 7 (20), Sean Williams 0 (1)

OUT! Brian Chari b Yasir Shah 16 (36)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 26/1 in 9 overs: GONE!!!! The first breakthrough fro Pakistan and it’s Chamu Chibhaha, who departs for 12 after falling to Imad Wasim after being trapped leg-before. Hamiltom Masakadza makes his way in as the most experienced player in the sqaud. BATTING: Brian Chari 10 (23), Hamilton Masakadza 1 (4)

OUT! Chamu Chibhabha lbw b Imad Wasim 12 (27)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Zimbabwe 9/0 in 4 overs: A slow start by the Zimbabwe openers as they look to settle down rather than going into the attacking mode right from the start, possibly to save wickets and to play a composed cricket in order to bat with ease at the end of the innings. Good bowling by the pakistan bowlers though so far. BATTING: Chamu Chibhabha 6 (16), Brian Chari 2 (8)

So, with a target of 260 looking challenging for the hosts Zimbabwe to chase down, it certainly is not impossible as Zimbabwe do have a star studded team capable to chase it down in no time. However, the million dollar question still remains is that whether they would be able to chase it down. Nevertheless, it was indeed a good comeback by the Paksitan batsmen, who indeed recovered follwoing the quick dismissals of the opening five wickets and were strong enough to play out the reamining overs to post a challenging total. We will soon be back with the chase, till then, take some time out to read Pakistan’s innings report by Rishad D’Souza.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 259/6 in 50 overs: THAT’S IT!!!! Pakistan finish their innings just above the 250-run mark and hve set Zimbabwe a target of 260, which indeed is a challenging total. Pakistan have well fought back into the game ever since losing their fifth wicket and the partnership between Rizwan and Wasim has been the turning point in their innings. BATTING: Mohammad Rizwan 75 (74), Aamer Yamin 1 (1)

OUT! Imad Wasim run out 61 (61)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 231/5 in 48 overs: Pakistan continue to bat with same attitude as the batsmen aim to bat out the rest of the overs with ease and need to be careful that they don’t lose further wickets from hereon as it would bring Zimbabwer back to the game. BATTING: Mohammad Rizwan 64 (70), Imad Wasim 52 (54)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 171/5 in 40 overs: Pakistan have been going really strong since as they have crossed the 200-run mark and the batsmen have put up over a 100-run stand. It’s a good total so far, but it remains to be seen if they manage to go beyond the 250-run mark, as both the batsmen bring up their respective half-centuries. BATTING: Mohammad Rizwan 37 (49), Imad Wasim 20 (27)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 152/5 in 36 overs: Pakistan continue to steer on and play few good shots with occasional boundaries as Zimbabwe look to restrict the rest of the Pakistan batting half to the least total and make things easier for them with a low score to chase. BATTING: Mohammad Rizwan 24 (35), Imad Wasim 14 (17)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 129/5 in 32 overs: GONE!!!! Sarfraz Ahmed departs for 44, missing out on his half-century by just a shot of six runs. Grameme Cremer takes the wicket after he is caught by Sean Williams at deep midwicket. Imad Wasim is the new man in. BATTING: Mohammad Rizwan 15 (28), Imad Wasim 0 (0)

OUT! Sarfraz Ahmed c Sean Williams b Graeme Cremer 44 (59)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 100/3 in 24.3 overs: WICKET! John Nyumbu has dealt a massive blow to Pakistan as he has cleaned up Shoaib Malik. The right-hander walks back after a strong partnership of 65 runs for the fourth wicket with Sarfaraz Ahmed. BATTING: Sarfaraz Ahmed 29 (41),

OUT! Shoaib Malik b John Nyumbu 31 (49)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 99/3 in 24 overs: The two right-handed batsmen have added 64 runs for the fourth wicket and have laid a good platform for a competitive total. The job is however far from done for Pakistan as of now. BATTING: Sarfaraz Ahmed 29 (41), Shoaib Malik 31 (47)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 68/3 in 18 overs: Malik and Sarfaraz have done well so far to lead the recovery for their side. Both the batsmen have controlled their attacking instincts, and have taken Pakistan past the 50-run mark. BATTING: Sarfaraz Ahmed 13 (26), Shoaib Malik 18 (26)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 49/3 in 15 overs: Finally, some stability for Pakistan as Malik and Sarfaraz have joined forces to lead the recovery. Pakistan will need stability and these two have it in them to provide them the same. BATTING: Sarfaraz Ahmed 6 (20), Shoaib Malik 2 (13)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 35/3 in 10 overs: And another one! Luke Jongwe gets Mohammad Hafeez caught at cover to damage Pakistan once again, who have now lost three wickets without any significant score on the board. BATTING: Sarfaraz Ahmed 0 (2), Shoaib Malik 0 (1)

OUT! Mohammad Hafeez c Hamilton Masakadza b Luke Jongwe 0 (3)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 24/2 in 7 overs: OUT! A dolly to the fielder at extra cover and Ahmed Shehzad disappoints again. It was really a poor stroke from the batsman who played one straight to the fielder off Tinashe Panyangara. BATTING: Mohammad Hafeez 0 (3), Sarfaraz Ahmed 0 (1)

OUT! Ahmed Shehzad c b Tinashe Panyangara 4 (11)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 16/1 in 5.3 overs: Oh no! The tactics of not going for big strokes has backfired on Pakistan somehow. Their captain Azhar Ali has walked back after being run out for 11. Pakistan stumble early on! BATTING: Ahmed Shehzad 4 (11)

OUT! Azhar Ali run out 11 (22)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 7/0 in 4 overs: Slow and steady for Pakistan as they are looking to make a strong platform early on. Both the batsman have dealt in singles and doubles so far in the first four overs. BATTING: Azhar Ali 2 (13), Ahmed Shehzad 4 (11)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Pakistan 1/0 in 2 overs: Tinashe Panyangara started off on an impressive note as he bowled a maiden first up. Pakistan captain Azhar Ali was more than happy to see off the first over. It’s a crucial phase for Pakistan, they cannot lose wickets in heaps as they have done so far in this tour. Azhar had a nervous moment on the final ball of the second over when the fielder at the second slip spilled a sitter off Luke Jongwe. BATTING: Azhar Ali 0 (9), Ahmed Shehzad 0 (3)
