Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the second One-Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Saturday. The hosts will look to bounce back after their 2-0 defeat in the Twenty20 International (T20I) series and the first ODI, which the tourists won despite making two identical low scores while batting first. Zimbabwe’s bowling and fielding was impressive, but it has been their batting that has left them down. Zimbabwe will have to put up a better performance in this regard, as they cannot afford to lose matches despite their bowlers doing well to put pressure on their opponents. Live cricket score Pakistan 256/8 | Overs 48 | Target 277 | Batting: Shoaib Malik 96(106), Yasir Shah 32(22) | Malik is four runs away from a well-deserved century when Elton Chigumbura, Sikandar Raza and the rest of the Zimbabweans appear to walk towards the umpire complaining about the poor light, before walking off the field, leaving Malik and Shah with massively disappointed looks on the faces. Highly unfair for the tourists, who were on the verge of pulling off a thrilling victory and now face a defeat on the basis of Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method. Then again, the light was indeed quite poor. One has to feel for Malik here, who has played one of the best knocks of his life here. And the news has come in from the centre — Zimbabwe have pulled off a 5-run win after the match officials call play off due to bad light, and level the series 1-1.

Live cricket score Pakistan 239/8 | Overs 46 | Target 277 | Batting: Shoaib Malik 87(101), Yasir Shah 25(15) | Malik has once again found able support at the other end, with Yasir Shah playing a little cameo of his own at the moment that could potentially turn into a winning knock later. The pair are getting atleast one boundary every over, and the running between the wickets at the moment is very good. Malik is nearing his ninth ODI ton.

Live cricket score Pakistan 196/8 | Overs 42 | Target 277 | Batting: Shoaib Malik 66(91), Yasir Shah 3(1) | Brilliant work by skipper Chigumbura to run out Wahab Riaz in the follow through off his own run up. Riaz struck the ball but didn’t manage to get it any further from the pitch itself, but since it was far from Chigumbura, the batsmen contemplated a quick single, but Chigumbura was alert. He ran through and collected the ball and before Riaz could blink threw the ball at the stumps accurately. Riaz started walking even before the third umpire ruled him out. Yasir Shah is the next man in. Meanwhile, the match has been interrupted by rain after that eventful over. OUT! Wahab Riaz 3 (8) run out

Live cricket score Pakistan 188/7 | Overs 40 | Target 277 | Batting: Shoaib Malik 61(84), Wahab Riaz 1(1) | Zimbabwe were getting increasing anxious for a wicket and it has come finally. Mohammad Rizwan 8 (10) c Nyumbu b Graeme Cremer

A bad start for him in his career. Hafeez starts his innings with a boundary to mid-wicket. Azhar Ali is batting at the other end.

OUT! Bilal Asif c Chigumbura b Panyangara 0(3)

Live cricket score Zimbabwe 276/6 | Overs 50 | Batting: Richmond Mutumbami 14(4), Luck Jongwe 5(2)| Elton Chigumbura smacks Wahab Riaz over square leg for a maximum to get into the sixties. Live cricket score Zimbabwe 196/4 | Overs 43 | Batting: Elton Chigumbura 35(38), Sikandar Raza 5(2) | Poor Chibhabha again misses out on his ton as this time he gets out caught behind to Riaz. He has been sublime in the way he has dealt with the spinners on a pitch with a lot of turn. Chari has taken the cue and has batted just about as well. Chibhabha must eye the hundred and work for it.

Live cricket score Zimbabwe 54/1 | Overs 15 | Batting: Brian Chari 7(22), Chamu Chibhabha 35(47) | Zimbabwe’s batsmen have done well to preserve their wickets and keep the scoreboard ticking at a moderate rate on a tough Harare wicket. Toss – Pakistan have won the toss and elected to field first.

Zimbawe’s batting is their real worry. They bowled well and restricted Pakistan to 259 in the first match but got bowled out on just 128 runs in reply. Their top-order needs to fire if they want to keep their hopes alive in this series. Their batters need to give some respect to the bowlers in the first few overs to get the shine off the new ball and later on play their natural game with confidence and maturity. Their middle-order battters SC Williams and Masakadza should play the sheet anchor role for lower-order batsmen.
