And a third one! Three off three. He is going after Hasan Ali.

  • 12:05 AM IST

Asif Ali smacks Hasan Ali for a six! Another short ball and another six! Two sixes off two balls. United are going home!

  • 12:02 AM IST

Islamabad United 127/6 (15 overs):What’s going on? Karman Akmal has dropped a regulation catch! We aren’t surprised that Karman has dropped a catch and Sammy is livid. Has Akmal dropped the PSL here? Just not that, batsmen have run two and it’s an overthrow for four. So six off the ball.

United need 22 runs from 30 balls

  • 11:52 PM IST
Islamabad United 116/6 (12 overs): This is turning out to be a very intense match. Hasan Ali gets Patel. This has been a superb over. A wicket and follows it with three dots and now a single. Zalmi won’t let it go so easy. And guess what? Chris Jordan has taken a blinder. Probably, the best catch in PSL 3! Shadab goes for a pull and mistimes, Jordan leaps full stretch at midwicket to take a blinder. Whew!

OUT! Samit Patel c Mohammad Hafeez b Hasan Ali 10 (13)
OUT! Shadab Khan c Chris Jordan b Hasan Ali 1 (2)

  • 11:34 PM IST

Islamabad United 112/4 (12 overs): We can sense something strange happening. Farhan was playing very well and he goes for a pull, mistimes and perishes. Safe catch from Hasan Ali.

  • 11:26 PM IST
Is something happening here for Zalmi. United are 104 for 3 in 10.4 overs. Three quick wickets there.

    OUT! JP Duminy c & b Chris Jordan 2 (4)

  • 11:18 PM IST

Chadwick Walton falls. He has chopped it on to the stumps. The crowd screams ‘JP’.

OUT! Chadwick Walton b Umaid Asif 0 (2)
  • 11:16 PM IST

Islamabad United 97/1 (9 overs): Luke Ronchi has lit up Karachi. The entire stadium is chanting his name. This has been a one-sided affair but Ronchi has entertained. He falls for 52 eventually. The win is a formality.

OUT! Luke Ronchi c Andre Fletcher b Chris Jordan 52 (26)
  • 10:51 PM IST

Islamabad United 55/0 (4 overs): Insane stuff from Ronchi! Why isn’t he playing for New Zealand? Well, he has retired. This is sensational.

  • 10:48 PM IST

Islamabad United 40/0 (3 overs): What start from Ronchi! He has raced to 35 off just 13 balls. He has smacked 21 runs off Hasan Ali. What a start! It all seems a formality from hereon.

    Brief scores

Peshwar Zalmi 148 for 9 in 20 overs [Chris Jordan 36 (26), Liam Dawson 33 (30), Wahab Riaz 28 (14)*; Samit Patel 4-0-26-2, Shadab Khan 4-0-25-3) vs Islamabad United

  • 10:20 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 148/9 (20 overs): Gul gets an important single. Had it hit, he was gone. Wahab swings and misses. The next ball, he bisects long on and deep midwicket for a boundary. That was a power shot. He follows it with another boundary. Wahab is turning the show! He goes for a ramp considering the field is in. The ball doesn’t bounce much and it’s a miss. Slogs and hits the final ball, a misfield gives Wahab two.

Wahab finishes with 28 (14)*. Islamabad need 149 to win
  • 10:14 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 137/9 (19 overs): Good for Zalmi that they have crossed their lowest PSL score of 126. They haven’t won any match where they have scored under 140. Well, it’s a task to get there too. They have a wicket in hand. Duminy brings fine leg inside the ring. Wahab slogs and manages to get over long-off and it’s a SIX! Very important shot. That was a length ball from Sami. He follows it up with a smart boundary. Wahab has got Zalmi back in the game. Ashraf to bowl the final over…

  • 10:10 PM IST
Peshawar Zalmi 125/9 (18 overs): Chadwick Walton has taken a sensational catch at long leg. He runs in and dives forward to complete a screamer. It’s never easy running in and taking a catch like that. Wahab gets a much-needed boundary off the final ball of the over.

OUT! Hasan Ali c Walton b Faheem Ashraf 6 (5)

  • 10:01 PM IST

  • 10:00 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 118/8 (17 overs): Liam Dawson departs. He was running out of partners. He had to step up at some time and he tried. Sami found his stumps. It’s Karachi, Sami’s town. Wahab walks out.

OUT! Liam Dawson b Mohammad Sami 33 (30)

  • 9:55 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 112/7 (16 overs): Sammy fails on the big day. He is deceived by a beauty off Shadab. Another googly, almost similar to Fletcher’s dismissal. That ball comes back in sharply and Sammy is trapped on the pads. Another wrong one claims another Zalmi wicket. Umpire had originally given it not out but United reviewed and there it is. Shadab is on a hat-trick. It’s a single.

OUT! Darren Sammy lbw b Shadab Khan 6 (6)
OUT! Umaid Asif lbw b Shadab Khan 0 (1)
  • 9:48 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 110/5 (15 overs): The onus is on Darren Sammy to take Peshwar to a 160-odd score. This has not been great batting from Zalmi. Samit Patel has finished his quota — 4-0-26-2.

  • 9:31 PM IST
Peshawar Zalmi 92/4 (13 overs): Big blow. The well-set Jordan falls. No Sammy yet. Saad Nasim is the new man in.

OUT! Chris Jordan c JP Duminy b Hussain Talat 36 (26)

  • 9:25 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 83/3 (12 overs): This is a good phase for Zalmi. They have built up well. Jordan has moved to 30 and Dawson 24. The partnership has been of 45 runs. 160 is the bare minimum Zalmi will eye from here.

  • 9:10 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 62/3 (9 overs): Dawson and Jordan have a lot of repair job to do. Dawson smacks Ashraf for a huge six. Zalmi need more of them in order to defend the title. It has been a 24-run partnership off 3 overs.

  • 8:58 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 38/3 (6 overs): Shadab has struck now! Beautiful googly that deceives the dangerous Fletcher. Zalmi are in serious trouble.

OUT! Andre Fletcher lbw b Shadab Khan 21 (15)
  • 8:55 PM IST
Peshawar Zalmi 36/2 (5 overs): Patel has struck again. Lures Hafeez for a drive and takes a fantastic caught and bowled. This has been a good start for United. Fletcher is keeping the momentum on in the meantime.

    OUT! Mohammad Hafeez c & b Patel 8 (6)

  • 8:42 PM IST

Peshawar lose Akmal early. Fletcher gets back-to-back boundaries and Patel has got Kamral leg before. He has reviewed but with no lucky. That’s a big one. The dangerous Akmal has to go.

    Peshawar Zalmi 12 for 1 (2.4 overs)

OUT! Karman Akmal lbw b Samit Patel 1 (9)

  • 8:38 PM IST

Peshawar Zalmi 3/0 (2): It’s a cautious start by the defending champions. Both Sami and Samit have bowled a one-run over each.

Good evening! Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018. We will bring you the live updates and interesting tweets from the match. After a month-long gruelling cricket action in the PSL 2018, we are headed towards the final of the tournament where defending champions Peshawar Zalmi will take on champions of the first edition, Islamabad United at Karachi.

This game means a lot as its cricket back in Pakistan. The diverse Pakistan has many internal issues to deal with but this sport unites the cricket-crazy nation that has been bereft quality cricket for some years now. And this port city, Karachi, a cricket hub has missed its share. It’s hosting it’s first high-profile cricket game since Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test in February 2009. Yes, that ill-fated series.

While Multan Sultans had topped the points table for long, both Islamabad and Peshawar came back well to be where they are. While, Islamabad won the inaugural edition in 2016, the Darren Sammy-led Peshawar won the tournament in 2017.

Kamran Akmal and Luke Ronchi have been the stars of their respective teams. Strange that a month back, both were opening for Honk Kong Island United in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz and both failed to get going as their team finished last.

Peshawar have won their last four games, while Islamabad have won four out of their last five games. Both sides are evenly matched but Islamabad will miss their skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.

Likely XIs for the teams:

Islamabad United: Luke Ronchi (wk), Sahibzada Farhan, JP Duminy (c), Hussain Talat, Samit Patel, Asif Ali, Samuel Badree, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Sami, Amad Butt

Peshawar Zalmi: Kamran Akmal (wk), Andre Fletcher, Mohammad Hafeez, Saad Nasim, Liam Dawson, Darren Sammy (c), Chris Jordan, Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz, Umaid Asif, Sameen Gul
