Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day three of the Group B game of the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy between Railways and Tamil Nadu, live from Karnail Singh Stadium, Delhi. Railways bowled brilliantly on Day two i.e. yesterday and reduced Railways to 129 for the loss of seven wickets. Railways have brought themselves in a precarious situation since they are still trailing by 199 runs. Although they have averted the follow-on still they are looking down and out in this match. Railways fans will be hoping that their lower-order batters play well today and add 80-100 runs at least so that their first innings deficit is not large. None of Railways batsmen played well except their opener Cheluvaraj who was unbeaten on 63 at the end of day’s play yesterday and Arindam Ghosh who made 48. If Cheluvaraj remains the last man standing today, it will reflect how little other batsmen helped him. Bhima Appa Rao Pemmi who was at the crease with him yesterday at stumps should make it a point to give Cheluvaraj maximum strike and let him do the scoring. Complete coverage of Ranji Trophy 2015-16

Cheluvraj is batting very well, his body language exudes confidence. Mahesh Rawat too is batting pretty well on 77. He has struck 10 fours and three gigantic sixes. Their partnership is now worth 123 runs. Railways are leading by 36 runs. Railways’ tail is poor, hence this batting pair has to keep going for long; also because it is the only recognised batting pair from now on. Railways fans will be hoping that both Cheluvaraj and Rawat get to their hundreds.

Railways in their second innings are still 124 runs behind Tamil Nadu’s first innings score. Railways should strive to get 125 more runs now without losing any more wickets because this first innings deficit is getting too much for them and is has put it’s batsmen under tremendous pressure as can be judged from their body language. OUT! Ashish Yadav lbw Malolan Rangarajan 10(35)

Railways are in a precarious situation right now. They need 145 more runs to clear the first innings deficit. Cheluvaraj who made a fighting 66 in the first innings will have to shoulder the maximum responsibility; it is advisable that he plays the sheet anchor’s role in this innings. OUT! If Cheluvaraj remains the last man standing today, it will reflect how little other batsmen helped him. Bhima Appa Rao Pemmi who was at the crease with him yesterday at stumps should make it a point to give Cheluvaraj maximum strike and let him do the scoring. Tamil Nadu bowlers— Aswin Crist and J Kousik were instrumental in bringing Railways to this precarious situation.
