Rajasthan won the toss and invited Ranji champions Karnataka to bat first in this crucial Group A tie. The Karnataka team were severely depleted by the non-availability of KL Rahul, Karun Nair and Manish Pandey. The team lost Robin Uthappa and Abhishek Reddy quite early in the innings. But the ever reliable Mayank Agarwal played a handy knock along with Samarth R.
Both got fifties as Karnataka managed to reach to a total of 270 runs. Other notable contributions included 40 not out from Shreyas Gopal and 29 from captain Vinay Kumar lower down the order. The effort from the lower order took the team, which had lost its way in the middle of the innings, to a respectable total.
For Rajasthan, AV Choudhary lead the bowling with three wickets. Deepak Chahar and AB Singh also took two wickets each. On Day 2, Karnataka would hope to stretch the score as much as it can, while Rajasthan would hope to wind up things quickly and post a solid reply.
