Karnataka have their nose ahead of Vidarbha in the 2nd semi-final

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Ranji Trophy 2017-18. This is the fourth day of the semi-final round with only one encounter remaining. Karnataka and Vidarbha are battling hard in the second semi-final, whereas Delhi marched ahead of Bengal in a span of three days. With a lead of 79 runs and 6 wickets in hand, Vidarbha’s lower order have a role to play to keep their campaign alive against tournament-favourites Karnataka.

Resuming Day Three at 294 for 8, Karnataka folded their innings for 301. Karun Nair’s stay ended on a magnificent 153 and ensured a handy 116-run lead. In reply, Vidarbha’s top order faltered. Skipper Faiz Fazal fell for no score and Sanjay Ramaswamy perished for 17. Wasim Jaffer failed to convert yet another start, and departed for 33. The innings was held by Ganesh Satish’s unbeaten 71. He has a job in hand in the penultimate day. Satish has to ensure Vidarbha bowlers get a challenging total to defend in front of Karnataka. Any total in excess of 200-220 could turn the tides. As of now, Karnataka are ahead.

In the first semi-final, Delhi decimated Bengal. Delhi commenced Tuesday’s play at 271 for 3, trailing by 15 runs. Mohammed Shami’s six-wicket haul pulled things back and restricted the lead to 112. However, what followed was a meek surrender by their batsmen. They folded for 86 without posing any threat. Navdeep Saini and Kulwant Khejroliya hunt in pack to dismantle the opposition, and earned final’s ticket for Delhi.
