India A hosted South Africa in a warm-up match a couple of days back, which the hosts won by a thumping margin of eight wickets. Varun Aaron was named Jharkhand’s captain and he will hope that he can lead his side to the knockout stage in this season. There is a high possibility that India limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni will join the Jharkhand squad after the T 20 International (T20I) and One-Day International (ODI) series against South Africa. Services have got a lead of 86 runs but they are nine down. Services would be hoping that P S Poonia and Raushan Raj get 14 runs more so that they can force Jharkhand to bat in the second innings with a 100 runs deficit. If they are able to get a 100 runs lead they will have the psychological edge.

It is now very difficult for Jharkhand to come back in the match. Now, Services will be looking to post a hefty total so they don’t have to bat in their second innings. Jharkhand have made an encouraging start during their brief Ranji Trophy history. They are by no means pushovers, but have been punished for their tendency to depend on a few players. In the last season they crashed out in the group stage but their bowling seem to show a lot of potential.
