Services suffered a blow when their opening bowler Raushan Raj had to leave field. Diwesh Pathania, their star bowler of the season, toiled hard, sending down 25.3 wicketless overs for 46 runs. Soumik Chatterjee tried seven bowlers, but to no avail. Kerala batted out 90 overs at 2.20 runs an over. None of Jagadeesh (59 in 179 balls, 6 fours), Kodoth (21 in 70 balls, 2 fours), Prem (79 not out in 217 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes), and Baby (32 in 75 balls, 2 fours) showed any intent to accelerate as the day meandered on at Palam A Ground.

Rajat Paliwal took both catches (Jagadeesh off Vikas Hathwala, Kodoth off Poonam Poonia) to cause the only moments of excitement in an otherwise dreary day.
