Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and live cricket updates page for the first Twenty20 International (T20I), between South Africa and England on Friday. The venue of the match is Newlands, Capetown. It is the first game of the two-match T20I series. On their current tour to South Africa; England first played four-match Test series followed by a five-match one day international series (ODI). England won the Test series 2-1 and were cruising along well in the one-day series as well by winning the first two games. South Africa showed resilience and won three back-to-back matches claiming the series 3-2. It will be interesting to see which team wins the first fixture of the T20I series. The team winning the first game will naturally have the psychological edge going into the second and final clash of the series. Live cricket score: South Africa  76/3| Overs 12.2 | TARGET 135| BATTING: Faf Du Plessis 15(19) , Rilee Rossouw :OUT! Adil Rashid strikes as JP Duminy played a poor shot which looked unnecessary. Duminy was surviving every now and then in his 30 ball stay, making 23 runs in the process. England have been picking up wickets at the right stage, to hamper the scoring rate down.

Live cricket score: South Africa  65/2| Overs 12 | TARGET 135| BATTING: Faf Du Plessis 15(19) ,JP Duminy 15(16) : Stokes into his final over,
Stokes has looked the most likely to get a wicket bowling with a good line and length. Moeen Ali should have caught JP Duminy as Ben Stokes looks unpleased from his attempt. Rashid gave just seven runs from his first over. Adil Rashid comes into the attack only to greeted by a boundary from JP Duminy.

Live cricket score: South Africa  50/2| Overs 8 | TARGET 135| BATTING: Faf Du Plessis 10(11) ,JP Duminy 5(6)  : Stokes has looked good with the ball giving away just 6 runs in his 2 overs. David Willey just misses out on a sky high catch by JP Duminy, who only manages to give it air and nothing else. Duminy also survived a close for lbw against Chris Jordan, will look to make it count and guide his team to victory. This was also an maiden wicket over by Stokes. OUT!! Ben Stokes picks up the key wicket of Hashim Amla, Amla was looking well set in his innings of 22 from 24 balls. Amla gave his wicket away trying to play cross the line, gave his catch away at mid-on.
Live cricket score: South Africa 31/1| Overs 4.2 | TARGET 135| BATTING: Hashim Amla 20 (16),Faf Du Plessis :OUT!! Chris Jordan strikies in his very first over. AB de Villiers, was looking good but in an attempt to pull a short ball, only manages to hit a skier towards fine leg as Alex Hales takes a simple catch. Hashim Amla has looked more aggressive is now joined by skipper Faf Du Plessis.

Live cricket score: South Africa 14/0 | Overs 2 | TARGET 135| BATTING: Hashim Amla 8 (9), AB de Villiers 2 (3): South Africa have begun their run chase well, with de Villiers and Amla looking positive. They do not have a huge target to chase and therefore can afford to go at a moderate in the initial stages. Wickets will however be key in this match.

South Africa need 135 to win the match and go 1-0 up in the two-match T20I series. INNINGS REPORT

Live cricket score: England 134/8 | Overs 20 | BATTING: Jos Buttler 32 (30), David Willey 7 (6): England will be disappointed to have not scored more, but looking at the way wickets kept tumbling, they will be glad that they have given their bowlers something to bowl at. It will not be easy for the English bowlers to restrict the South African star-studded line-up, but they are in with a chance, nevertheless. OUT! Chris Jordan c Miller b Abbott 15 (15), Adil Rashid c Amla b Abbott 2 (6)

Live cricket score: England 89/6 | Overs 14 | BATTING: Jos Buttler 9 (14), Chris Jordan 6 (7): South Africa are all over England at the moment as Tahir has struck twice in as many deliveries. Buttler and Jordan are at the crease and they will be looking to bat out the remaining overs. OUT! Eoin Morgan c Wiese b Tahir 10 (12), Moeen Ali c du Plessis b Tahir 0 (1)

Live cricket score: England 74/4 | Overs 10 | BATTING: Eoin Morgan 7 (5), Jos Buttler 3 (5):  After a blistering start, England have lost their way a bit as Root, Stokes and the dangerous Hales have all been dismissed. South Africa right on top at the moment as Morgan and new batsman Buttler look to rebuild. OUT! Alex Hales c Duminy b Tahir 27 (21), Joe Root c Rossouw b Wiese 8 (12), Ben Stokes st de Villiers b Tahir 11 (7)

Live cricket score: England 45/1 | Overs 5 | BATTING: Alex Hales 25 (16), Joe Root 2 (4): South Africa finally get a breakthrough as Jason Roy pulls a slower delivery from Rabada straight to mid-wicket, where Hashim Amla is waiting. Hales too gets a let off as he is dropped by Duminy in the deep. Joe Root is the new batsman for England. OUT! Jason Roy c Amla b Rabada 15 (10)

Live cricket score: England 22/0 | Overs 2 | BATTING: Alex Hales 19 (11), Jason Roy 1 (1): England are off to a good start, after being asked to bat first. Hales looks in fine touch as he looks to punish anything short or full. South Africa need to get rid of him early. He was in excellent form in the ODI series.

Teams:

South Africa: Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers (wk), Faf du Plessis (c), JP Duminy, Rillee Rossouw, David Miller, David Wiese, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Kyle Abbott, Imran Tahir.

England: Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Joe Root,  Eoin Morgan (c), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler,  Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, David Willey, Reece Topley,

TOSS: South Africa win toss and elect to bowl first

Both, England and South Africa have some brilliant players in their ranks. Alex Hales, due to his phenomenal performance in the ODI series will be one of England’s key batsmen for the first T20I clash as well. Joe Root and Ben Stokes are some other English batsmen to watch out for in the match. For South Africa; AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock will be few of their batters that they will bank upon. Talking of bowlers, England would want Reece Topley, who took a three-wicket-haul in the last match to come out good in this match as well while Imran Tahir’s legbreak bowling will be critical for South Africa’s success.

Squads:

South Africa: Faf du Plessis (c),  AB de Villiers, Kyle Abbott, Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock (wk), JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Chris Morris, Aaron Phangiso, Kagiso Rabada, Rilee Rossouw, Dale Steyn, David Wiese
