Greetings! Welkom to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day Four of the ongoing second Test between South Africa and England at the Newlands in Cape Town on Tuesday. This is Vishal Mehra, and I shall update you with the events of the game at regular updates for the penultimate day of the second game of the four-Test series. South Africa managed to give England a fitting reply with the bat on the third day of the ongoing game, reaching a commanding score of 353 for the loss of three wickets at stumps with Hashim Amla batting on 157, with Faf du Plessis on 51 for company at the other end. Though the hosts trail England by another 276 runs, the Amla-du Plessis pair look set to guide their team to a major score on the fourth day. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England 16/0 in 6 over |  Lead by 18  | Batting: Alastair Cook 8(25), Alex Hales 5(14) : STUMPS!! This was memorable 4session for South Africa as Temba Bavuma and Chris Morris both achieved their respective Test milestones. Bavuma scored his maiden Test ton and Morris his maiden Test fifty. England on into the final day with Alastair Cook and Alex Hales remaining not out with a lead of 18 runs.

England finally manage to get the breakthrough, with Chris Morris departing after a fine knock of 69 off 111 balls. Morris is caught at short extra-cover as his quickfire innings comes to an end. Meanwhile, Newlands waits for Bavuma’s maiden Test ton with baited breath, and explodes into celebration when Bavuma finally brings up the milestone with a boundary towards third man. Bavuma breaks into a celebration, taking off his helmet and jumping in the air with joy, with his father and former South African cricketer Makhaya Ntini expressing the most happiness after the batsman himself. Meanwhile, Amla calls the players back to the pavilion with the Proteas just two runs short of England’s first innings total, with seven overs left on Day 4! OUT! LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 586/6|200.1  overs | Trail by 43 | Batting:   Temba Bavuma 87(118), Chris Morris 50(87): Fifty!! Chris Morris get to his first ever Test half -century with a lovely four. Morris brought up his fifty in 87 balls which included 7 fours. Temba Bavuma has looked rock solid on the other end , stroking four’s himself. Bavuma is currently on 87* . South Africa now trail England by just 43 runs.

Moeen Ali has not turned at all with Ben Stokes toiling hard. South Africa will now want to get a lead ideally to gain a motivational advantage.

Temba Bavuma and Chris Morris has looked in good flow with the bat, as their partnership is continuing on 79*. England will want to pick up South African tail as early as possible. South Africa still trail England by 99 runs

Bavuma and Morris have so far contributed 76* runs, Bevuma in his innings of 52* has hit 11 blistering pulls, drives and cuts towards the fence.

Bevuma hit three fours of Steven Finn through the covers, pull and cut. Bevuma and Chris Morris have also brought up their 50 run stand.

New Ball working is magic beautifully as it has picked three wickets so far in this session. Quinton de Kock in an attempt to pull gives his wicket away to a catch to James Anderson.

James Anderson picks up Faf du Plessis who misses out on a hundred by 16 runs. Hashim Amla got out in the previous over with Stuart Broad striking. South Africa now have two new batsmen at the crease in Temba Bevuma and Quinton de Kock. New ball has done the trick for England.

It was an peach of a delivery, the ball just nips back as it is a hard new ball,taking an edge onto the stumps. Amla has batted beautifully since Day 2.

Steven Finn will want to pick up few more wickets adding to his tally of one. Du Plessis will be eager to get a century after an year or so. South Africa still trail England by 276 runs.

DAY 3 Report : HERE

The England batsmen earlier made the South African bowling unit appear toothless as they finished on a massive score of 629 for six, with Ben Stokes leading the way with the bat to smash a record 258 off a mere 198 deliveries. The New Zealand-born all-rounder recorded the second-fastest Test double-hundred off all time, losing out on the top spot to Nathan Astle’s 153-ball double hundred by 10 deliveries. Wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow remained unbeaten on 150 off 191 deliveries, with the two sharing a record 399-run stand for the sixth wicket, the highest partnership ever for that wicket. Chris Morris had an expensive debut as he conceded 150 runs for the wicket of Joe Root in the 28 overs that he bowled, making it the most expensive figures by a South African on debut since the Proteas’ readmission into international cricket.
