Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and live cricket updates page for the fourth One-Day International (ODI), between South Africa and England on Friday. The fourth ODI of the series will be played at Wanderers, Johannesburg. The hosts made a remarkable comeback in the third ODI after England won the first two games of the five-match series, to keep the series alive. With two more games left in the series, England have the upperhand as they will need only one more win to seal the series, whereas South Africa need to win both the remaining matches in order to prevent second consecutive series loss to England on the trot. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: South Africa vs England 2015-16, 4th ODI at Johannesburg
MAN OF THE MATCH: Chris Morris
Live Cricket Score South Africa 266/9 in 47.2 overs | TARGET 263| Batting: Kyle Abbott 3 (11), Imran Tahir 4 (1): SA have won a remarkable match. Chris Morris scores a spectacular fifty to guide his side home. But he was dismissed for 62 with South Africa needing just one run to win. The series is now level at 2-2. OUT! Chris Morris b Rashid 62 (38)
Live Cricket Score South Africa 218/8 in 43 overs | TARGET 263| Batting: Chris Morris 20 (20 ), Kyle Abbott 2 (4): South Africa have lost a couple of wickets, having lost the wickets of David Wiese and Kagiso Rabada. A lot of responsibility lies on the shoulders of Chris Morris, but he will need the support of Kyle Abbott as well. OUT! David Wiese c Morgan b Stokes 21 (32), Kagiso Rabada c Root b Topley 0 (1)
Live Cricket Score South Africa 194/6 in 38 overs | Batting: David Wiese 19(25), Chris Morris 1(1): That’s a wicket and it’s a big one! Reece Topley has taken a great catch in his follow through to dismiss Behardien. It was a drive in the air and Behardien paid the price. OUT! Farhaan Behardien 38(42) c & b Topley
Live Cricket Score South Africa 191/5 in 37 overs | Batting: Farhaan Behardien 38(40), David Wiese 17(23): South Africa are doing very well. They looked shaky when JP Duminy fell but it has been a sedate knock by Behardien and Wiese ever since. England need some wickets.
Live Cricket Score South Africa 143/5 in 29 overs | Batting: Farhaan Behardien 11(15): Adil Rashid has trapped JP Duminy in front with his wily leg-spin bowling. This is spiralling downwards for South Africa now. There is some turn on offer and Rashid is a beast when there is assistance.
Live Cricket Score South Africa 121/4 in 25 overs | Batting: JP Duminy 21(40), Farhaan Behardien 0(0): This is a real shame for South Africa. AB de Villiers was batting so well and he’s been run out! Great work by Woakes to get the job done. OUT! AB de Villiers 36(27) run out Woakes
Live Cricket Score South Africa 91/3 in 20 overs | Batting: AB de Villiers 22(14), JP Duminy 8(24): De Villiers has been unprolific this whole series but he seems to be shaping for a big, exciting knock. He survived a close call when he got a thick edge off a drive played to Broad, which flew to the man at point where Jason Roy dropped a half chance. He’s looked good after that. Duminy has been poor.
Live Cricket Score South Africa 63/3 in 15 overs | Batting: AB de Villiers 0(2), JP Duminy 0(5): Great delivery by Chris Woakes to get rid of Faf du Plessis who was looking so comfortable. Woakes pitches it up with the angle on the middle stump line and beats de Plessis’s attempted drive with late away swing! OUT! Faf du Plessis 34(38) b Woakes
Live Cricket Score South Africa 63/2 in 14 overs | Batting: Faf du Plessis 34(37), AB de Villiers 0(2): Ben Stokes has made an important breakthrough! Quinton de Kock has chopped it onto his leg stump. It was marginally outside off on a good length, de Kock looked to run it down to third man, but the inside edge ricochets onto the stumps. OUT! Quinton de Kock 27(42) b Stokes
Live Cricket Score South Africa 60/1 in 12 overs | Batting: Quinton de Kock 25(36), Faf du Plessis 33(33): So that was only a brief interruption. The lights are back on and England’s search for a breakthrough continues. South Africa are on top at the moment. Faf du Plessis is looking very good. De Kock not at his best but going at a good rate.
Live Cricket Score South Africa 53/1 in 10.2 overs | Batting: Quinton de Kock 23(32), Faf du Plessis 28(27): What a pity, the South African innings was going so well but there’s an interruption because the lights have gone off at Johannesburg and play has been duly stopped.
Live Cricket Score South Africa 41/1 in 8 overs | Batting: Quinton de Kock 18(25), Faf du Plessis 22(20): South Africa have opted to settle down following the dismissal of Hashim Amla and it’s a call that makes sense because South Africa are not chasing a big score. England need to keep taking wickets.
Live Cricket Score South Africa 9/1 in 3 overs | Batting: Quinton de Kock 5(13), Faf du Plessis 3(2): Stuart Broad has already taken a wicket. Not so long back in the Test series, he had wrecked havoc at the same venue. He’ll need a similar spell to keep South Africa in check and give England the best chance at a win. Hashim Amla was the man dismissed for a three-ball duck. OUT! Hashim Amla 0(3) b Broad
Live Cricket Score England 262 in 47.5 overs | Batting: Reece Topley 0(0): Rabada has made the final breakthrough to remove Adil Rashid for more than a handy 26-ball 39. Helped England well past the 250-run mark. This will give England something of a chance to try and win the encounter. OUT! Adil Rashid 39(26) c de Villiers b Rabada
Live Cricket Score England 234/8 in 45 overs | Batting: Adil Rashid 20(15), Stuart Broad 0(0): That’s end of a fantastic innings by Joe Root. Questionable shot to get out to, but can’t take anything away from the batsman. It’s been a great knock under pressure. It was the ramp shot that brought him undone off Morris. OUT! Woakes 33(38) c de Kock b Rabada, OUT! Root 109(124) c Tahir b Morris
Live Cricket Score England 202/6 in 41 overs | Batting: Joe Root 97(116), Chris Woakes 33(37): It’s been a great effort by this duo to take England past the 200-mark threshold after they were tottering at 108 for 6! Root seems headed for one of his most amazing ODI hundreds. Now England are in a position where they can push the gas in a few overs and probably have a sniff at 300.
Live Cricket Score England 169/6 in 36 overs | Batting: Joe Root 73(98), Chris Woakes 24(25): This innings has been reminiscent of an ODI game from the late 90s to early 2000s. The top order collapsed and then some one in the lower middle order has joined forces with the one standing batsmen to put on a slowish but resolute partnership. It’s Root and Woakes who have done it for England. Partnership is over fifty runs.
Live Cricket Score England 130/6 in 30 overs | Batting: Joe Root 48(72), Chris Woakes 12(15): The South Africans have maintained the pressure, but England are trying to resist. Joe Root and Chris Woakes are batting well but they need to do so much more to offset the flurry of wickets that fell a while back!
Live Cricket Score England 108/6 in 25 overs | Batting: Joe Root 38(55), Chris Woakes 0(2): It’s a long undesitable procession for England and it’s showing no signs of letting up! Now it’s Moeen Ali who falls to the extra bounce generated by Kyle Abbott. Poor shot selection too. It was a ball outside off on a short length with little width but Moeen saw sense in trying to hit it to the leg side. He gets a thick edge that flies to slip where Amla plucks another great catch. OUT! Moeen Ali 4(10) c Amla b Abbott
Live Cricket Score England 100/5 in 23 overs | Batting: Joe Root 34(51), Moeen Ali 0(4): A total no show from England’s top order! They have all got out for less than five runs and England have slumped from 87-1 to 100-5. Abbott used the extra bounce to remove Buttler for one off six balls! He falls a long procession. OUT! Jos Buttler 1(6) c & b Abbott
Live Cricket Score England 97/4 in 20 overs | Batting: Joe Root 32(43): England in a precarious position now. Imran Tahir has made another breakthrough and he can credit the extra bounce that he achieved when Morgan tried to cut it. It took the top edge and flew to Behardien at point. Tahir is ecstatic because just two balls later he’s removed Ben Stokes with a fantastic googly. Also, credit to Hashim Amla for a fine catch at slip. Eoin Morgan 2(3) c Morgan b Tahir, OUT! Stokes 2(2) c Amla b Tahir
Live Cricket Score England 87/2 in 18 overs | Batting: Joe Root 26(36): Alex Hales has been dismissed just after a fifty. Decided to take on Imran Tahir, who frankly was not bowling too well, but the decision to hit against the spin cost him dear. He went for the slog over deep midwicket but not hit hard enough to clear the man there. Big blow. OUT! Alex Hales 50(56) c Miller b Tahir
Live Cricket Score England 62/1 in 13 overs | Batting: Alex Hales 40(44), Joe Root 12(18): England are looking to get bit of a move on surely aware of how even a score of 318 can be far from safe these days as proved in the previous game. Root hit one full delivery outside off over mid-on for a four displaying his intent against Wiese in the 12th over, he repeated a similarly daring shot over mid off in the next over off Morris. Hales has been batting well but not get rewards for some really fine drives he has played.
Live Cricket Score England 29/1 in 8 overs | Batting: Alex Hales 21(25), Joe Root 1(7): England have lost Jason Roy despite his measured approach. Kagiso Rabada, decked in pink, has been lethal. He sensed an occasion and directed a short one at Roy’s throat resulting in a top edge on an attempted pull shot. Jason Roy 6(16) c Abbott b Rabada
Live Cricket Score England 11/0 in 3 overs | Batting: Alex Hales 6(7), Jason Roy 4(11): England are off to a relatively cautious start. Their focus will be to preserve a few wickets early on. Early wickets cost them dear in the previous game. Hales and Roy are players who can accelerate tremendously at will but they’ll be better off getting their eye in a little bit.
Teams:
South Africa XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers (c), Jean-Paul Duminy, Farhaan Behardien, David Wiese, Kagiso Rabada, Kyle Abbott, Chris Morris, Imran Tahir

TOSS UPDATE: South Africa win toss and elect to bowl first

To give you a quick glance, England won the first ODI by 39 runs (via Duckworth-Lewis Method) in a rain-truncated match, at Bloemfontein. In the second ODI, South Africa’s batting misfired as they could manage only 262 for 7, which England chased down with 5 wickets down and 22 balls to spare.
It was in the third ODI that South Africa showed their true character. After England amassed 318 for 8 batting first, Quinton de Kock came out all guns blazing and along with Hashim Amla, he drowned England’s hopes of sealing a series win.
