THAT’S IT!!!!!!!! Sri Lanka have been bowled out for 239 and England would need 240 to win from 50 overs. Chris woakes finishes with six wickets for 47.
OUT! Thisara Perera c Root b Woakes 27 (17), Ajantha Mendis b Woakes 0 (0)

GONE AGAIN!!!! Sachitra Senanayake depart for a duck and Sri Lanka seem to crumble at the closing stages of the innings. Good death bowling from Steven Finn and Chris Woakes as Sri Lanka enter 200.
OUT! Sachithra Senanayake b Woakes 0 (3)

Two wickets and Sri Lanka are down to the final three pair. Sangakkara misses out on a century by nine runs while Jeevan Mendis departs for just 12.
OUT! Kumar Sangakkara c Root b Woakes 91 (123), Jeevan Mendis c & b Woakes 12 (15)

OUT! Lahiru Thirimane lbw b Tredwell 8 (19)

GONE!!!!! Finally, the partnership is broken as skipper, Mathews departs for 40 off 76 deliveries and misses his half-century by 10 runs while Sangakkara gets his and is batting on 56.
OUT! Angelo Mathews c Woakes b Jordan 40 (76)

Another good five overs as England bowlers find it hard to break this partnership. 64-run stand so far for the fourth wicket between Sangakkara and Mathews as Sanga nears his half-century with just three runs short.

Another good six over for Sri Lanka as both Sangakkara and Mathews continue to bat in a similar fashion, however the boundaries have been limited. Sangakkara is nearing his possible half-century as he enters the 40s.

No harm done after two quick wickets of Dilshan and Jayawardene as Sangakkara and Mathew take control and make sure that they steer the innings past a healthy total. Sangakkara is batting brilliantly so far in the 20s.

GONE AGAIN!!!!! Jayawardene’s innings is too short for this match as he has edged it to Chris Jordan off Chris Woakes and departs after scoring mere two runs. Skipper, Angelo Mathews joins the party now.
OUT! Mahela Jayawardene c Jordan b Woakes 2 (3)

GONE!!!!!! Tillikaratne Dilshan has to depart now after scoring a healthy 35. Good-length ball by Jordan, inside edge for Dilshan who went for a cut, but straight on to the stumps. Mahela Jayawardene comes in.
OUT! Tillakaratne Dilshan b Jordan 35 (31)

No harm done after the early setback suffered to the hosts in the form of Kusal Perera as Dilshan and Sangakkara, one of the most experienced pair in the team take control and are playing good as well as smashing boundaries occasionally.

First over of the match, here we go. Steven Finn it is with the ball. AND HE STRIKES! Early blow for the visitors, and Kusal Perera’s atrocious form continues.
OUT! K Perera 0(2)

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the fifth One-Day International (ODI) between Sri Lanka and England at Pallekele on Wednesday. This is Ayush Gupta, and I will be bringing you the updates from the match.

Sri Lanka lead this seven-match series 3-1 as in the fourth match, Kumar Sangakkara hit 86 as Sri Lanka squeezed past England with six wickets and two balls to spare.  James Taylor missed a maiden one-day century by 10 runs as England, electing to take first strike, scored 265 before they were all out off the last ball of their 50 overs in Colombo, AFP reported.

But Sangakkara’s 90th one-day half-century laid the foundation that enabled Sri Lanka to pass the target in the day game at Premadasa stadium. The left-hander put on 96 for the third wicket with fellow veteran Mahela Jayawardene (44) and 49 for the fourth with skipper Angelo Mathews.
