Catch Live Scorecard of the Sri Lanka vs England 7th ODI match here

(Sri Lanka will aim to give a fitting farewell to their legendary cricketers. Catch Live Cricket Score of the final match here)

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the seventh and final One-Day International (ODI) between Sri Lanka and England at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Sri Lanka have already won the series, but this is a very special occasion. Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara are playing their final ODIs on home soil. Sri Lankan fans would want to come out in their numbers to give a rich tribute to the duo that has contributed a lot to their cricket.

However, for England, this game may have larger implications. In the preview, we had noted, “For England, it would be a more serious business. Their familiar weaknesses in 50-over format were once again exposed in the series. Besides, their best player in this format, Eion Morgan is going through a lean patch with bat. Alastair Cook has looked like a fish out of water both as a skipper and as a batsman in ODIs. He will get one more opportunity in this series to sort the mess out.

At least Cook can certainly look upon the positives like James Taylor, Joe Root, Jos Buttler, and Chris Woakes, all of whom have performed decently on this tour. Also he should give reserve members of squad to prove their worth. Players such as Harry Gurney, Ben Stokes and Alex Hales might find place in the playing eleven in the last ODI at Colombo.”

Ninth one down! Jordan out for no score. This was fired in full, struck Jordan on the front pad as his bat got stuck. Looked to be heading towards middle and leg.
CJordan lbw b Prasanna 0 (1)

AND AGAIN!!!!! It’s the big one of Joe ROOT and he has been trapped leg-before by Prasanna. He departs after scoring a healthy knock of 80 as James Tredwell makes his way with England just two wickets remaining.
OUT! Joe Root lbw b Prasanna 80 (97)

GONE!!!!!! Chris Woakes is the next to fall as he departs for a healthy 34 off 39 deliveries after being bowled by Dilruwan Perera. Chris Jordan comes in.
OUT! Chris Woakes b D Perera 34 (37)

GONE!!!!! Jos Buttler departs for 23 as he is caught by Chandimal off Prasanna and a partnership that was going good and healthy is broken for 48. Chris Woakes comes in.
OUT! Jos Buttler c Chandimal b Prasanna 23 (23)

GONE!!!!! Eoin Morgan is trapped leg-before to none other than Dilshan. Morgan’s horrendous tour of Sri Lanka continues while Dilshan is having the best farewell home game so far. Jos Buttler comes in.
OUT! Eoin Morgan lbw b Dilshan 4 (14)

AND AGAIN!!! England are in deep trouble here as it’s the fourth wicket that goes down and it’s James Taylor who departs after scoring just two as he is caught behind by Sangakkara.. Suranga Lakmal gets a couple as well. Eoin Morgan comes in.
OUT! James Taylor c Sangakkara b Lakmal 2 (4)

GONE AGAIN!!!! It’s the skipper Alastair Cook who departs after scoring a healthy 32 off 49 deliveries as Mahela Jayawardene takes a good catch at the slips and Suranga Lakmal gets the all-important breakthrough. James Taylor comes in.
OUT! Alastair Cook c Jayawardene b Lakmal 32 (49)

OUT!!!! Alex Hales is gone after scoring just seven off 15 deliveries. Went for an ambitious shot over long-on, but it was straight to Prasanna as Dilshan gets his second of the night. Joe Root comes in.
OUT! Alex Hales c Prasanna b Dilshan 7 (15)

GONE!!!!! Moeen Ali falls in the second over and it’s Tillakaratne Dilshan who claims the wicket with a great turn and bowls him over. Alex Hales comes in.

Brilliant last over by Jordan. An over of full, straight, quick bowling. Only runs were scored and Sri Lanka lost 2 wickets. Still they finish with a huge 302/6. Sri Lankan top order looked solid, led by Dilshan. Perera and Chandimal gave them the final push to get past 300 mark.
S Prasanna run out 0 (0), T Perera c & b Jordan 54 (26)

What an innings Thisara Perera is playing. He also became the eighth Sri Lanka player to score 1,000 runs and secure 100 wickets. Also 43 ball half-century for Dinesh Chandimal. Very well played!  300 is still a possibility for Sri Lanka.

9000 ODI runs for Dilshan also he scored his 18th hundred in this format,. He is gone though. A great knock for him in 300th appearance for Sri Lanka. Jordon got his wicket. Good catch at the deep by Moeen Ali.
Dilshan c Moeen Ali b Jordan 101

Ali to Mathews, OUT! Mathews goes for another paddle sweep but it’s a little quicker and flatter and skids onto leg stump! Moeen makes the breakthrough. Clever bowling. He’d been paddle swept a few times but pushed this through and Mathews got outside the line and when he missed he was praying for the ball to miss leg stump which it didn’t.
A Mathews b Ali 20 (27)

Sangakkara gone. The low full toss works by Moeen Ali worked for England. Sangakkara just swings it straight to midwicket. So both legends have given their wickets away. Another standing ovation as Sangakkara walks off. May not be his final innings in Sri Lanka, but will be his final ODI at his home soil.
OUT! K Sangakkara c Tredwell b Ali 33 (50)

Mahela Jayawardene was dismissed early in his last ODI match at Sri Lanka for 28. However, it’s Sangakkara and Dilshan who have taken control and Dishan is approaching a possible half-century as he is in the forties.

Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan have provided Sri Lanka a steady start in this game. They have looked positive and Sri Lanka would like to have a big partnership between these two.

Oh dear! Mahela Jayawardene is out for only 28 in his final ODI in Sri Lanka. Gurney bowls one on the leg side as the right-hander pulls, but is caught by the man at the long-leg position! Jayawardene trudges back amid huge applause.
OUT! M Jayawardene c Woakes b Gurney 28 (22)
