Live cricket score: UAE 115/9 | Overs 20 | BATTING: Ahmed Raza 9(8), Qadeer Ahmed 2(4): Chameera bowls a no-ball. He bowls a yorker the next delivery which was a free hit ball. Qadeer Ahmed is only able to pick a single. He and Raza are not able to hit a big scoring shot off the last balls and UAE are able to reach only 115 in their allotted 20 overs. UAE tried and came very close to winning the match but were not able to pull it off. They never had the upper hand in the innings. Sri Lanka win by 14 runs.

Amjad Javed hits hard on the length ball but is not able to clear the fielder. He gets out at long off. The match has slipped from UAE’s hands. Maling bowls a slower delivery. Patil aims the midwicket region but the ball takes the edge and goes high up in the air. Malinga takes a good running catch. Mohammad Naveed smacks a boundary off his first ball over backward square leg. It was a juicy full toss. OUT! Swapnil Patil c&b Lasith Malinga 37(36)

Live cricket score: UAE 83/6 | Overs 16 | BATTING: Swapnil Patil 37(34), Amjad Javed 11(15): Herath bowls his last over and the batters again fail to cart the ball to the fence. Swapnil Patil is closing in to his half century. He thoroughly deserves it; a good knock played under pressure. UAE needs 47 from 24 balls. UAE can but they need to exhibit some really special batting.

Live cricket score: UAE 77/6 | Overs 15 | BATTING: Swapnil Patil 35(32), Amjad Javed 7(11): Patil hits two back-to-back boundaries off Chameera. The first four was executed through a slog over deep midwicket. He then pulled the next ball for a four over mid on. UAE are fighting hard. The task is very tough but it is not completely out of their reach.

Live cricket score: UAE 67/6 | Overs 14.1 | BATTING: Swapnil Patil 27(28), Amjad Javed 6(10): A good over by Angelo Mathews as he gave just two runs off it scored on the first two balls through singles. UAE requires 63 runs from here on from 35 balls.

Live cricket score: UAE 65/6 | Overs 13 | BATTING: Swapnil Patil 25(25), Amjad Javed 6(7): A good over for UAE; nine runs come off it. Patil played some  clever cricket by opening the face of his bat off the ball bowled by Siriwardana which happened to be the last of the 13th over. The ball easily reaches the third man boundary.

Live cricket score: UAE 56/6 | Overs 12.1 | BATTING: Swapnil Patil 21(24), Amjad Javed 4(4): Six runs come off the 12th over of the innings. It was bowled by Herath but this time the batters succeeded in finding the gaps. Herath bowled with a lot of variety but the batsmen picked both his line and length pretty well but he will be happy as no big shot was hit off his over.

Live cricket score: UAE 50/6 | Overs 11.1 | BATTING: Swapnil Patil 16(18), Amjad Javed 1(2): Four consecutive dot balls by Chameera. Patel then steers the ball towards the covers for a couple.  UAE now needs 80 runs off 53 balls; a herculean task considering they are six-down.

Saqlain tries a slog but is not able to get the middle of his bat and top-edges the ball. Chandimal takes an easy catch. OUT! Saqlain Haider c Dinesh Chandimal b Rangana Herath 1(9)

Live cricket score: UAE 40/5 | Overs 9 | BATTING: Swapnil Patil 7(9), Saqlain Haider 1(7): Dushmantha Chameera is brought into the attack. He bowls a tight first over giving just one run that too off a wide. Saqlain Haider tried his best to rotate the strike but did not succeed. Sri Lanka bowlers are not just picking wickets but they also know how to bowl economically.

Shaiman Anwar plays on the back foot off  a ball which was pitched around off and was moving in. He top edges it to the wicketkeeper. Great comeback by Sri Lanka after failing with the bat. OUT! Live cricket score: UAE 36/4 | Overs 7 | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 12(12), Swapnil Patil 6(7): Shaiman Anwar is batting at a run-a-ball 12. Swapnil Patil opens his account with a six over long leg. Something to cheer for UAE. Patil moved outside off getting inside the line of the short pitched ball. UAE needs more of these without losing any more wickets. They should make a judgement call by choosing half volleys and lose deliveries for big shots.

Live cricket score: UAE 27/4 | Overs 6 | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 9(8), Swapnil Patil 0(5): Shaiman Anwar and Swapnil Patil are doing damage repair. UAE requires 103 runs from here onwards from 84 balls and they have just six wickets in hand. Their current state is all due to some classic bowling by Malinga and Kulasekara. They need lots of runs and they don’t have wickets in hand. All that they can now hope is to score well without losing wickets in the middle overs.

He targeted the mid-off region with a lofted shot but finds the fielder. UAE are in shambles now. They desperately are in need of a partnership. OUT! Live cricket score: UAE 8/2 | Overs 2.3 | BATTING: Muhammad Kaleem 5(9), Muhammad Usman 0(3): Nuwan Kulasekara bowled a maiden second over of the innings. Malinga is back in action now and both the batters are not having any answer to his fiery swinging variations. It will be in UAE’s interest to see out his bowling and score on the other bowlers.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 129/8 | Overs 20 | BATTING:Dushmantha Chameera 1(1): Chamara Kapugedera got out off a full toss at mid-wicket. He hit hard but couldn’t get his timing right. Nuwan Kulasekara also perished soon after. He targeted the mid-wicket area off a slow bouncer pitched outside the off stump. He top-edged the ball and was caught by the wicketkeeper.  We have seen some terrific bowling from UAE. Restricting the defending champions of Asia Cup for a paltry 129 in 20 overs is praiseworthy. All their bowlers bowled pretty well. Skipper Amjad Javed took a three-wicket-haul. Sri Lanka will have to bowl very well to defend 129.  OUT! Only eight runs came off the 19th over which was bowled by Rohan Mustafa. Sri Lanka need a big final over to post a decent score so that their bowlers at least have something to defend.

Maybe it’s too early to say that. Angelo Mathews is trapped by Rohan Mustafa for eight. Mathews tried a reverse sweep but fails to make contact. Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 98/3 | Overs 15 | BATTING: Angelo Mathews 7(7), Dasun Sanaka 5(9): Angelo Mathews and Dasun Sanaka are finding it difficult to place the ball in gaps. UAE are bowling well. After Javed; Mohammad Naveed and Ahmed Raza have also been impressive. Raza in particular gave just 14 runs thorugh his left-arm spin. Can Sri Lanka reach 150? A delivery bowled slightly back of a length outside the off stump. Chandimal tries to slog the ball but ends up hitting the ball at mid-wicket. Mohammad Shahzad stationed there makes no mistake. OUT! Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 87/2 | Overs 13 | BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 48(37), Dasun Sanaka 3(6): Chandimal has played well but at the same time we will have to say that UAE has played much better compared to what was expected. Sri Lanka, now have to remain wary of UAE. Javed, who is leading from the front, is bowling very well; pitching the ball in right areas and using variations to good effect.

He has struck seven beautifully timed fours and a gorgeous six in his innings. Siriwardana is doing the right thing bu giving the in-form batsman maximum strike.

Dilshan plays across the line but fails to judge the length and ends up giving a sitter at deep mid-wicket. UAE need more wickets to build pressure on the Lankans. Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 68/0 | Overs 9 | BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 41(27), Tillakaratne Dilshan 27(27): A quiet over by Ahmed Raza but UAE needs wickets which is the need of the hour. Maybe drying up the runs will enable them getting a wicket since the batters will then attempt a few risky shots.

He is now just 10 runs short off his fifty. Dilshan, on the other hand has slowed down.

A good over for UAE considering they were taken on by the opposition in the last two overs. UAE will be hoping that they soon pick up a wicket or thing might get precarious for them.

UAE bowlers are looking helpless against him. They have to send him back to the hut or else everyone knows how dangerous, Dilshan can become once he gets set.

They need to break this partnership or the Sri Lankans will soon take this match away from them in the first innings itself.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 19/0 | Overs 3 | BATTING: Dinesh Chandimal 6(8), Tillakaratne Dilshan 13(10): Finally, Dilshan gets into his groove and hits three beautiful boundaries off Naveed.  For the first four, he advanced down the track and hit the ball towards square leg. The second four was executed through a drive. Dilshan was lucky in his third four as the ball took an inside edge of his bat and rushed towards the boundary.

With the match being held at Mirpur, a capacity crowd of over 25,000 is definitely not expected.
