LIVE CRICKET SCORE | WEST INDIES 20/1 | Target 244 | BATTING: Shai Hope 17(28): An early Tea taken as it starts poruing down in Colombo. West Indies bowled out the hosts for 206 in 75.3 overs in the second innings of Day 3 and now they need 244 runs to win the second Test. However, the hosts struck early when Dhammika Prasad dismissed Kraigg Brathwaite on the last delivery of the ninth over, leaving West Indies at 20 for 1. It was Prasad's fifth wicket of the ongoing Test. OUT! Kraigg Brathwaite lbw Dhammika Prasad 3(26)
LIVE CRICKET SCORE Sri Lanka 206 in Overs 75.3; BATTING: Dhammika Prasad 1(10): Brathwaite continues to weave his magic around the Sri Lankan batsmen, taking two more wickets following the start of the second session. Rangana Herath falls after a few ambitious shots, getting a top-edge off a delivery pitched outside off to depart for 18. Perera brings up the 200-run mark by coming down the track and smashing Brathwaite over long-on. He is dismissed a couple of deliveries later, slog sweeping towards deep midwicket and getting caught by Kemar Roach at the position.
Dilruwan Perera brings up the 200-run mark for the hosts with a six over long-on, but is dismissed a couple of deliveries later when he slog-sweeps towards deep wicket for Kemar Roach to take a simple catch. Brathwaite completes his fantastic spell by removing skipper Mathews as well as Nuwan Pradeep, both of whom are caught by Jermaine Blackwood in the slips.OUT! Rangana Herath c Jermaine Blackwood b Kraigg Brathwaite 18(26), Dilruwan Perera c Kemar Roach b Kraigg Brathwaite 7(9), Angelo Mathews c Jermaine Blackwood b Kraigg Brathwaite 46(120), Nuwan Pradeep c Jermaine Blackwood b Kraigg Brathwaite 0(1)
LIVE CRICKET SCORE Sri Lanka 165/6 in Overs 59.1; BATTING: Angelo Mathews 31(68): Milinda Siriwardana, Sri Lanka's top-scorer in their first innings, helps the hosts recover from the twin-strike early in the first session along with skipper Angelo Mathews. The duo pace their knocks well, with Siriwardana playing a few exquisite shots, including a reverse-sweep, while Mathews keeps it steady at the other end. Desperately needing a breakthrough, West Indian skipper Jason Holder hands the ball over to part-timer Kraigg Brathwaite, who responds brilliantly by getting rid of Siriwardana, who edges the delivery turning away from the batsman to Jermaine Blackwood in the slips. Brathwaite strikes again at the stroke of lunch! This time, wicketkeeper batsman Kusal Perera edges the delivery to his West Indian counterpart Denesh Ramdin. OUT! Milinda Siriwardana c Jermaine Blackwood b Kraigg Brathwaite 42(60), Kusal Perera c Denesh Ramdin b Kraigg Brathwaite 5(11)
LIVE CRICKET SCORE Sri Lanka 103/4 in Overs 40; BATTING: Milinda Sirirwardana 16(16), Angelo Mathews 1(8): The day is off to yet another unpredictable start, with overnight batsmen Kaushal Silva and Dinesh Chandimal falling victim to the bowling of Jomel Warrican and Jerome Taylor respectively. Warrican bowls the first ball of the day, and gets the wicket of Silva a while later with a delivery that is pitched along the leg-stump. Silva looks to play against the spin, but gets a thick outside edge to direct the ball towards Jermaine Blackwood at the slips. A couple of deliveries later, Chandimal gets an inside edge to the wicketkeeper off a Taylor delivery that is of good length and angling into the batsman. OUT! Kaushal Silva c Jermaine Blackwood b Jomel Warrican 32(105), Dinesh Chandimal c Denesh Ramdin b Jerome Taylor 12(44)
Resuming from their overnight score of 17 for 1, the West Indian batting order couldn't sustain themselves with vital partnerships at any given moment. Dhammika Prasad, who had dismissed Shai Hope in the final session of the opening day, ran through the opposition top-order to reduce them to 77 for 4 at lunch, thanks to some clever variations combined with pace and bounce, as well as the rash shots played by the visitors.
The fiery pace spearhead finished with figures of 4 for 34 at the end of the innings. Dilruwan Perera, who was picked for the second Test at the expense of Tharindu Kaushal, was handed the ball quite late into the West Indian innings, but managed to take three wickets for 28 runs to wipe out the Sri Lankan tailenders. Barring Kraigg Brathwaite, who took on the spinners head-on and scored 47 off 101 balls, few batsmen could give the Sri Lankan bowlers any contest.
