Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the eighth  contest of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016 between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (STKNP) v Barbados Tridents (BT) at Basseterre. St.Kitts are currently at No.3 in the table having played 3 matches. They have won one and lost two games and have 2 points to their name. On the other side BT are at the bottom of the table having lost the only match they have played in. If BT win they have a chance to go on to No.2 or 3 in the table, while Kitts will remain at No.3 having played more matches. In the last match of CPL 2016, Jamaica Tallawahs cruised to a 7-wicket victory against Trinbago Knight Riders courtesy a Chris Gayle century.

Santokie to bowl the penultimate over, Pollard takes a single. Third ball, AB de Villiers takes a single as scores are level now. Pollard on strike, he muscles the ball towards the boundary for a four and Barbados Tridents win this match with eight balls to spare.

Pollard takes a liking for him as he accumulates 14 runs from his over. ABD and Pollard will look to finish the match as quickly as possible.

Live Cricket Score | Barbados Tridents 119/3 , 15 overs | Target 163| AB de Villiers 42(23), Kieron Pollard 1(1): Both Shoaib Malik and AB de Villiers had slowly and steadily moved onto their 40’s and 50’s. ABD after starting slow has now managed to boost up his strike-rate. Malik on the has played completely risk free so cricket so far. Malik brought up his fifty in style with six. Malik soon gave his wicket away after getting to his fifty as Badree picked up his first wicket. Kieron Pollard will want to take his team to victory without any casualties.

Malik is joined by Mr.360 in AB de Villiers who will want to finally get some runs under his belt in this edition of CPL 2016. ABD so far has played with ease and maintained a high strike-rate. Wayne Parnell was looking good for his 15-ball 16. Parnell was looking to hit Perera out of the park managed to find the bucket hand of Brathwaite.  Malik was lucky to survive as du Plessis misses a tough one.

Shoaib Malik and Steven Taylor have looked impressive in their short stay in middle. Malik was been the aggressor so far in this partnership having hit as many as 2 sixes. Kieron Pollard have so far chanced bowler in every over. Thisara Perera has provided St Kitts with the early wicket of Taylor who only added 3 runs to the score. Malik has been well supported by Wayne Parnell.
Tabraiz Shamsi have been called upon by Pollard to knock over a few batsmen.

Live Cricket Score | St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 162/8, 20 overs |  Krishmar Santokie 0(0) : Thisara Perera who has known as a big hitter faced only 4 balls for his 4 runs . Brawthwaite could not contribute much as David Wiese got his wicket as he was trying to bank the bank into the stands. Jonathan Carter does his work makes a considerable score. Carter in his innings of 42 hit one four and 3 massive sixes. He was being well supported by Carlos Brathwaite tore into Ravi Rampaul in the 19th over. Just when Devon Thomas was looking to get going he was shabbily run-out for 21(17). Patriots have lost 3 wickets for 42 in the final 5 overs.

Lewis did very well to get to a half-century ended up making just that after been through all the early collapse. Lewis made a 33-ball 50. Carter on the other hand has been good with the long handle striking above 107.69. He is ably supported by Devon Thomas who mind you is now mug with the bat.

Live Cricket Score | St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 78/3, 10 overs |Evin Lewis 34(25), Jonathan Carter 15(17): As soon as their was a chance of a partnership Jon Smuts gave his wicket away to Shoaib Malik. Smuts was aggressive in the same over before he was castled by Malik for 14. Jonathan Carter and Lewis has been excellent with the bat after than getting boundaries at will. Malik since that over has bowled miserly and been more about variation than anything else.

They have lost both their dependent batsmen in the early few overs. Lendl Simmons were out in the very second ball of the game for 2, as he was unlucky to be given out by the umpire. Far du Plessis who was at No.3 was soon to go back into the pavilion as he too departed on the final ball of the third over with St Kitts still at 21 for 2.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (STKNP) in their last match against Jamaica Tallawahs lost the game by 5 runs at Warner Park, Basseterre. STKNP needed 30 off the last over, it was wicketkeeper-batsman Devon Thomas who plundered three consecutive sixes and brought some hope of a win only to end up 5 runs short.  Barbados Tridents no the other hand also suffered an 11 runs defeat at the hands of defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders. Nicholas Pooran scored a 12-ball 33 to give BT some hope at the end, but it wasn’t to be. His 12-ball 33 included 3 sixes and 2 fours
