Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the warm-up match between West Indians and a Victorian XI. The West Indians have had a disastrous run recently as they have lost series consecutively. Their journey in Australia has been disappointing as well as they started off with a defeat against the Cricket Australia XI by 10 in their tour game and have also lost it to the Australia team in the first Test match as well. With everything going against the WIndies, their performance in the second ongoing tour match has been better, which is a positive sign for the team.

West Indians had a good first day as they put good runs on the board. Victoria XI won the toss and sent the visitors to bat. Kraigg Brathwaite and Rajendra Chandrika opened for them but Chandrika departed soon making 28. The next man in, Marlon Samuels built up a good partnership with Brathwaite that provided the team with the stability they needed. Samuels missed on his half century narrowly scoring 45. Further mentionable contributions came from Jermaine Blackwood who added 69 runs to the scoreboard while sharing a 99-run partnership with Brathwaite.

While skipper Jason Holder failed to perform today, wicketkeeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin’s unbeaten 38 was a helpful knock considering the continuous fall of wickets during the end overs of the day. Amongst the Victoria bowlers, Jeremy Hart picked up the most number of wickets with 4 victims but failed to maintain a good economy. Jackson Coleman, Matthew Doric, Jackson Koop got a wicket each.
