Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the warm-up match between West Indians and a Victorian XI. The West Indians have been pathetic on this tour so far and even that term seems like an understatement. It was no hidden fact that this was perhaps the weakest West Indies side to tour Australia in over six-seven decades yet they seem to have hit new depths in their indifferent performances. Their first game on the tour was against a Cricket Australia XI which consisted six debutants. West Indies lost that game by 10 wickets. Their Test was a foregone conclusion.

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 303/8 | Overs 90| Denesh Ramdin 38(56), Jomel Warrican 22(46): And it’s stumps. The runs look good, but 320 would have been a safe total. Amongst the bowlers, Jeremy Hart took 4 wickets. West Indian batsmen did well and the game is expected to be interesting the next day.

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 291/8 | Overs 84| Denesh Ramdin 35(56), Jomel Warrican 13(33): Even after losing some wickets in quick succession, the West Indian scorecard looks sorted with almost 300 runs on board. Ramdin and Warrican are doing a great job down the order as they are adding some important runs to push the score beyond 300. 320 will be a good score at this position.

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 257/8 | Overs 76| Denesh Ramdin 14(31), Jomel Warrican 0(4): The Victoria bowlers are doing great now. After a long period of not getting wickets, they are back and have almost ended the West Indian batting. Denesh Ramdin is the only dependable batsman left now and he needs to give his hundred per cent for his side.

OUT! CR Brathwaite c Doric b Hart 4 (8)

OUT! Shai Hope b Doric 1 (11)

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 243/5 | Overs 68| Denesh Ramdin 5 (13), Shai Hope 4(3): From a very good position, the West Indians have lost 3 wickets. OUT! Jermaine Blackwood lbw b Hart 69 (102)

OUT! Kraigg Brathwaite retired out 78 (174)

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 194/2 | Overs 57| Kraigg Brathwaite 64 (160), Jermaine Blackwood 52(80): A superb display of batting by the West Indians and the Victoria bowlers are jut not being able to cause any harm to the batting. Both Brathwaite and Blackwood are quite confidently batting now and this surely is a great news for the team.

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 161/2 | Overs 46| Kraigg Brathwaite 58 (136), Jermaine Blackwood 29(38): Brathwaite looks pretty sorted and is confidently playing the shots while Blackwood also has become used to with the Victorians’ bowling. Both need to carry on with the partnership and help their side with runs on board.

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 141/2 | Overs 38| Kraigg Brathwaite 50 (115), Jermaine Blackwood 17(11): Samuels misses on his half century and Blackwood has walked out to bat. Brathwaite completed his 50 and that is a good news for the WIndies as he looks set now and can lead his team to a good total.

OUT! Marlon Samuels c Kight(wk) b Coleman 45 (40)

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 110/1 | Overs 32| Kraigg Brathwaite 40 (93), Marlon Samuels 41 (37): It’s lunch and the West Indians have done well so far. They have lost just Chandrika and will be happy with the way Brathwaite and Samuels have gone. These are encouraging signs ahead of the second Test against Australia.

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 101/1 | Overs 30| Kraigg Brathwaite 37 (87), Marlon Samuels 35 (31): West Indians have not lost further wicket after losing Chandrika. Samuels and Brathwaite have put on 50 for the second wicket. Samuels is going at over run-a-ball at the moment. He has to be careful as he would not want to throw away his wicket after getting off to a good start. 100 up for the West Indians.

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 47/1 | Overs 19| Kraigg Brathwaite 18 (51), Marlon Samuels 0 (1): West Indians have lost their first wicket and it is the wicket of Chandrika as he is trapped leg before by Jackson Koop. Chandrika will be disappointed that he did not get to spend enough time on the pitch. Marlon Samuels walks in at No. 3. OUT! Rajendra Chandrika LBW b Koop 28 (62)

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 23/0 | Overs 12| Kraigg Brathwaite 7 (36), Rajendra Chandrika 15 (36): West Indians going at a slow pace at the moment and it is completely understandable as the batsmen would want to spend as much time as possible in the middle. The openers will hope they can get a good score as well as it will give them the much-needed confidence.

Live Cricket Score West Indians: 12/0 | Overs 6| Kraigg Brathwaite 3 (19), Rajendra Chandrika 9 (17): After wining the toss and electing to bat first, the West Indians are off to a decent start. They will want to make the best use of this warm-up match as they will be up against the mighty Aussies in a few days time for the second Test. They lost the first Test by a an innings and 212 runs.

TOSS: West Indians won the toss and elected to bat first.

Teams:

Victoria XI: Ian Holland (c), Aaron Ayre, Jackson Coleman, Travis Dean, Tom Donnell, Matthew Doric, Sam Grimwade, Jake Hancock, Jeremy Hart, Dylan Knight (wk), Jackson Koop

Yet, the magnitude of defeat was more horrible than most expected. Australia batted only once in that game at Hobart. West Indies managed to take just four wickets for 583 runs and in return got out twice with the cumulative score still 212 short of Australia’s total. They have taken a thorough battering. If that horrible bashing has aroused in them a sense of emotion it will serve them well because they seemed despirited in that match.

They will face a Victoria XI in the warm-up game in lead up to the iconic MCG Test on Boxing Day. Unfortunately, that sense of iconic occasion of that fixture seems to be lost due to the terrible mismatch of teams in terms of competitiveness. West Indies will look to perform better in the warm-up game in a bid to come closer to fit the billing for the big Test. Jason Holder will have to arouse a sense of urgency in the team.
