While Baroda beat Karnataka I the quarter-final by 7 wickets to make it to this stage, Tamil Nadu knocked over Gujarat by 5 wickets to qualify for the semis. The winner of this match will make it to the final and take on the winner of the second semi-final between Bengal and Jharkhand on March 19. Tamil Nadu will look to bank on the form of Dinesh Karthik, who has been their leading run-scorer of the tournament with 418 runs at 83.60 and also an astonishing strike rate of 113.58.
As far as their bowlers are concerned, Ashwin Crist with 16 wickets is just 1 wicket behind the leading wicket-taker of the tournament Kaushang Patel. For Baroda though, Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda have been the most consistent ones with the bat, notching up 326 and 302 runs respectively. Pandya has been the star for the team with the ball as well, picking up 11 wickets in seven matches at an economy rate of 4.80. Pandya played a huge role in the quarters against Karnataka, where his 3 wickets and 70 runs were crucial in ensuring Baroda made it to the final four.
In the group stage, Tamil Nadu had finished as the table toppers from Group B after they beat Tripura by a huge margin in their final group stage match. However, Baroda finished behind Vidarbha in Group A. Vidarbha lost their quarter-final match to Jharkhand on Wednesday. In the other quarter-final, Bengal completed their highest ever run-chase, when they beat Maharashtra, chasing down 319 with one ball to spare.
