ENGLAND win the match by 4 wickets and take an unassailable lead of 2-0. Jason Roy, Joe Root and Chris Woakes are the architects of his win by England, after Ashley Nurse and Devendra Bishoo inflicted pain on their middle order batsmen. Root remained unbeaten on 90, while Woakes remained not out on 68. The pair added 102 runs for the seventh wicket.
Joe Root and Chris Woakes have almost managed to take their side to victory, after they suffered yet another batting collapse against the spinners. As far as West Indies are concerned lack of a third spinner and unavailability of Shannon Gabriel that is about to cost them this game. Woakes has also managed to bring up his 2nd ODI fifty.
Root and Woakes are slowly and steadily heading England towards safety and a series win. Root will also want to get his 11th ODI ton, while Woakes will look to spent valuable time in the middle. Bad news for West Indies, is that Shannon Gabriel won’t be available for bowling after he pulled a muscle.
Gabriel has pulled something in his left side and highly unlikely to bowl more. Holder, Carlos Brathwaite and part-timers v Root and Woakes.

This has been quite the collapse by England, losing 4 wickets in a span of 16 runs. Ashley Nurse and Devendra Bishoo, showed how well they can bowl on friendly conditions. Onus, now on Joe Root to guide his team to a win along with the support of Chris Woakes. West Indies will not rely on part-time bowlers to fill in.
WICKET! Moeen (3) bowled now by Nurse. England have lost four for 16! Watch on SS2: https://t.co/YCz1wZvWq8 pic.twitter.com/e6vfz7jKdR

Windies bat badly, England bat even worse against spinners Bishoo and Nurse. Up to Root and Woakes but at least they only need four an over.

This has been quite an eventful couple of overs for both the sides. Ashley Nurse and Devendra Bishoo have managed to bring West Indies back in the game. First it was Nurse, who scalped Eoin Morgan then it was Bishoo, who got the million dollar man in the IPL, Ben Stokes for 1. Joe Root and Jos Buttler are in the middle with ENG needing 113 runs more to win.

Jason Roy and Joe Root have managed to kick start the England innings back into power. After the first few overs, West Indies have struggled to maintain normalcy. Both batsmen have managed to his boundaries at will. Roy, in particular hold the key if West Indies have any chance of a comeback.
After the initial scare, Jason Roy has blasted his way to runs. Already having it 3 fours and a six, their seems no stopping this man. West Indies, need to get his wicket they want to stay in the match. Joe Root, no the other hand will want to make good use of the time in middle and get back into scoring form. This has been quite the start for West Indies. Both Gabriel and Jason Holder have managed to get a hold of the scoring rate and cause problems for the batsmen. Jason Roy in particular has been trouble and been lucky to survive a drop catch and a close leg-before shouts.LIVE, ENG 1/1, Roy 1* , Root 0* : This is a dream start for West Indies. Shannon Gabriel picks his first wicket in the form of Sam Billings. Billings was already under the pressure of performing with Alex Hales waiting in the wings. Billings gave a catch to second slip, which was caught by first slip. Joe Root was also lucky to survive, after the ball fell short of first slipThe final 5 overs have been all about England bowling. Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett have been accurate to say the least. Baring Carlos Brathwaite’s wicket everything has been thanks to poor shot selection by the batsmen and clean bowling by the bowlers. West Indies finally finish on 225 with Shannon Gabriel being the last man out for 1.
England in the final leg of the innings have been tight and immaculate with their bowling. Jason Holder, who was the key for West Indies hold up for 14 after giving a skier to Adil Rashid. Carlos will be the key now if the hosts are to get anywhere near 250.OUT! Jason Holder goes for 14. #WIvENG https://t.co/MZJHEAW8SV

With Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite in the middle the final 10 overs looks to be promising for the hosts’. With a slow pitch on offer it will be tough against Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett and Chris Woakes. Carlos is finding it tough to read Rashid.WICKET! Got Carter! Plunkett again draws a batsman into a shot down the ground. Again, Rashid takes the catch

Both Kraigg Brathwaite and Jason Mohammed have just not been able to muster along after getting good starts. Mohammed in particular had a soft dismissal after making his fifty. Jason Holder is out in the middle along side Jonathan Carter. With only 14 overs remaining West Indies are in dire need of big hits.WICKET! 50 & out for Jason Mohammed – Liam Plunkett finds a leading edge and Rashid takes the catch! #WIvEng

SIX! Superb fifty for Jason Mohammed. #WIvENG https://t.co/MZJHEAW8SV

Moeen Ali provided the English side with a crucial wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite for 42. Brathwaite missed a straighter one from Ali and got stumped by wicket keeper. Pressure will be on Jason Mohammed and Jonathan Carter to provide the West Indies side with some big runs.
This has been quite the stand between Kraigg and Jason, both batsmen have managed to keep the flow of runs coming with singles and a few boundaries in-between. Rashid and Ali have been heavily targeted.
West Indies would desperately aim for a win against England in the second ODI to stay alive in the series © Getty Images Good Evening/Morning/Afternoon! Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of the second of the three-match One-Day International (ODI) between hosts West Indies and visitors England at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Sunday. I am Vishal Mehra, and I will be bringing to you all the live updates from this tie. The visitors have already drawn the first blood in this series, following an emphatic 45-run win over the hosts, as they would aim to win this tie to seal this series, following a tough tour of India. As for West Indies, they would desperately aim for a win here to stay alive in the series. Full Cricket Scorecard: West Indies vs England, 2nd ODI at Antigua
The good news for England was that Stokes did not bowl in a match that was touted by many as the Stokes versus Carlos Brathwaite 2.0. With Stokes not bowling it only proves the variedness and depth of the English attack. West Indies, meanwhile, will have to be more aggressive in the field while bowling. Jason Holder did not inspire much with the bat and his leadership skills were quite indescribable. West Indies might rope in Alzarri Joseph, whose pace could be handy given the dual nature of the pitch at Antigua. England, would rarely want to tinker with their winning combination. West Indies vs England 2nd ODI, Preview: Visitors eye series win
With a 1-0 lead, the visitors will want to wrap up the series here itself and leave the third ODI for experiment, while West Indies will want to get a win and provide fan-less stadium at Antigua some sheer and joy. Ticket prices were as low as $75 yet one could only see the English bandwagon in the crowd. West Indies have not won a single bilateral ODI series over England at home in the past 20 years, which says a lot about their cricket.
