Good Afternoon/Morning! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the Women’s Quadrangular series 2017. I am Paulami Chakraborty and I will be bringing you the live updates of the day’s play. There will again be two matches played in the tournament today, with India Women taking on Ireland Women at Senwes at Potchefstroom in first match of the day and South Africa Women facing Zimbabwe Women at North-West University No.1 Ground at Potchefstroom in the second match. India and South Africa are at the top with 3 and 2 wins respectively. Zimbabwe have picked their pace with solo win so far.
However, Ireland are struggling to find their first win in the tournament. Each team have two games remaining to find their spot in the 3rd place Playoff that will be held on May 21. The final will take place on the same day at Senwes Park. This has been the perfect practice match for India and South Africa ahead of ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 which will begin on June 24 at England and Wales. Both the teams have shown fire power. However, India have won all the matches so far while South Africa lost to the former previously.
India bowlers like Shikha Pandey and Jhulan Goswami have helped eased out the pressure on the batters. Jhulan also went on to become the leading ODI wicket-taker in the match against South Africa.
India in the last match won comfortably against Zimbabwe by 9 wickets, chasing target of 94. South Africa, on the other hand, posted a mammoth target of 337 for 5. However, Ireland provided tough fight but failed to avoid yet another defeat.
