Good afternoon/morning! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the Women’s Quadrangular series 2017. I am Shruti Hariharan and I will be bringing you the live cricket updates of the day’s play. These will be the final two matches of the group stage before matches for the top three spots commence on Sunday, May 21. India Women will be taking on Zimbabwe Women at Senwes at Potchefstroom in second match of the day and South Africa Women will face Ireland Women at North-West University No.1 Ground at Potchefstroom in the first match. India and South Africa are equal in points, but the former is at No. 1 thanks to a superior run-rate, Zimbabwe are placed at No. 3 with Ireland down at No. 4.

India are coming off a narrow 8-run defeat at the hands of South Africa. Chasing 270 to win, it was South Africa’s Shabnim Ismail’s strikes that downed India’s great start after Deepti Sharma and skipper Mithali Raj struck fifites. It was only Shikha Pandey in the end who kept India in hunt. India’s opponents in the match on Friday, Zimbabwe, hammered Ireland by 5 wickets.

Batting first, Ireland could only manage 150 runs out of which 29 runs came from extra. It was Tasmeen Granger that rocked their opponents into submission picking 4 wickets. Zimbabwe’s reply was solid after Chipo Mugeri, Modester Mupachikwa and Anesu Mushangwe hit quick 30s. India, earlier in the series, had defeated Zimbabwe by 9 wickets, while South Africa thrashed Ireland by 178 runs. If India and South Africa both win on Friday the former will remain at No.1 position with a superior net run rate.
