Looking to clear the in-field, he found Chibhabha at mid-off. A big blow for Ireland. Gary Wilson will have to provide good support to Stirling to ensure an Irish win. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 187 all out after 49.2 Overs; J Nyumbu 7 (11)  Zimbabwe have been bowled out for 187. Williams and Raza aside, none of the batsmen showed application. On the other hand, Ireland were brilliant. They executed their plans well and here is their chance to repeat the World Cup 2015 feat and register a win against Zimbabwe. Young, who replaced Mooney in this game, bowled with good pace and provided the early break-through but the star performer was pacer Murtagh who picked figures of 10-0-32-4. Now it’s up to the Irish batting. Here’s the innings report.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 171/6 after 44 Overs; T Mutombodzi 3 (4), L Jongwe 5 (3) — Raza after scoring his third ODI fifty gave away his wicket to Murtagh while attempting a slog across the line. Zimbabwe will look to at least get 200 on the board.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 159/5 after 42 Overs; T Mutombodzi 0 (2), S Raza 46 (51) — Chigambura gets caught at the boundary. It was a touch and go decision but since no TV replay is available, the umpires seemed pleased with what they saw.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 143/4 after 39 Overs; E Chigambura 32 (55), S Raza 32 (41)— It has been a fruitful post-drinks session for Zimbabwe. Both, Chigambura and Raza have stepped up the gear. The first three overs after ‘drinks’ went for 24 runs.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 119/4 after 36 Overs; E Chigambura 24 (50), S Raza 16 (28)— Drinks! A steady partnership between Chigambura and Raza is building up. The run-rate is still less than 3.5. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 97/4 after 29 Overs; E Chigambura 13 (28), S Raza 5 (8)—  Williams got out soon after he scored his 23rd ODI fifty. A couple of balls back he was seen stretching his right leg and limping. Paul Stirling got the important break through. Zimbabwe look to be in a state of bother.

OUT! S Williams c N O’Brien b P Stirling 51 (69)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 82/3 after 25 Overs; S Williams 48 (61), E Chigambura 8 (20) —  A lucky respite for Williams in the 22nd over after he was dropped at mid-wicket by Young. Surely a costly miss and he is making the Irish pay for that. He is looking all set for a big one and Zimbabwe have scored 25 from their last four overs.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 57/3 in after 21 Overs; S Williams 31 (47), E Chigambura 0 (10) —  After crawling to a slow 17, Chari has given it away. McBrine has got one through in between Chari’s bat and pad.  Zimbabwe’s innings run-rate of below 3 is a matter of concern. Williams and skipper Chigambura will have a big role to play from now on.

OUT! B Chari b A McBrine 17 (56)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 41/2 after 15 Overs; S Williams 23 (39), B Chari 10 (38) — It’s been a slow start from Zimbabwe. Chari hasn’t been able to rotate the strike and that’s a concern. At the other end, Williams looks set. The run-rate is below 3 at the moment.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 28/2 in after 10 Overs; S Williams 14 (26), B Chari 6 (21) — After that horrendous start, Zimbabwe have done well to recover. Williams has struck three boundaries and brought up his 2400th run in ODIs. It’s important for Ireland to maintain the pressure.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 8/2 after 4 Overs; B Chari 1 (10), S Williams 1 (1) — Tim Murtagh gets into the act. He did well to set up Chibhabha by getting two to come in and then the third one held its line, taking the batsman’s edge on its way to the keeper. Ireland off to a dream start. Can they pull this off?

OUT!  C Chibhabha c N O’Brien b T Murtagh 4 (11)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: ZIM 2/1 after 1 Over; B Chari 0 (2), C Chibhabha 1 (2) — Ireland have got off to a good start. Young is making his chance count. He bowled quick and provided Ireland with the much needed early strike.

LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD AND BALL-BY-BALL COMMENTARY: Zimbabwe vs Ireland, 2nd ODI at Harare

However, with nothing to lose now, Ireland would be playing for pride as they would look to finish the series on a high by registering a consolation win over the Zimbabweans, as they are most likely to play fearless cricket. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, have not completed their job completely and would love to make a clean sweep here and make it 3-0 in their favour, sending the Irish home with a major wound to heal. Zimbabwe vs Ireland, 3rd ODI at Harare, Preview

Winning the toss for the first ODI, Zimbabwe skipper Elton Chigumbura sent the home side for batting. Ireland put up a low score of 219 losing 8 of their wickets utilising their 50 overs. While Gary Wilson came out as the highest scorer of the innings with his unbeaten 70 off 88 balls, only Ed Joyce could score a half cent amongst rest. John Nyumbu and debutant Wellington Masakadza  emerged as the highest wicket-takers for Zimbabwe taking a couple of wickets both while Tinashe Panyangara, Luke Jongwe, Chamu Chibhabha and Sean Williams got one wicket each. Chasing the target, the Zimbabwe scorecard saw massive contributions from Richmond Mutumbami 60 ( 78) and Sikander Raza*  60 ( 72) and won the match with 9 balls and one wicket remaining as Panyangara hit the winning boundary. Sikandar Raza was given the man of the match.

In search of redemption, the Irish team came out to bat first for the second ODI as Zimbabwe again won the toss and chose to field. With a steady 72 off 77 from Paul Stirling, Ireland got a good start which was carried successfully by Niall O’Brien 50(78) and keeper Gary Wilson 65 (55). At the end of 5 overs, they put up a defendable 268 with the loss of 7 wickets. The Zimbabwe bowling saw a stunning spell from Sikandar Raza who took 3 major wickets including those of Stirling and Niall and maintaining an economy of 4.90. While batting, Craig Ervine single-handedly won the match for Zimbabwe as remained not out on 101 playing 122 balls. Sean Williams scored a mentionable 43 off 51. Amongst the Irish bowlers, Kevin O’Brien stood the most successful one who maintained an economy below 5 taking 3 wickets. Craig Ervine received a well deserved player of the match award.
