Sri Lanka are just one wicket away from sealing their victory. Cremer was dismissed in rather a foolish pattern. After batting soo brilliantly, he threw his wicket away by trying to step out against Herath who was too smart to clean bowled him. Mumba is the one who can see away from the remaining 7 overs given the way he has batted out since the time he has com out. But Nooo. Zimbabwe have lost the plot as Mpofu is clean bowled Perera. Good resistance by the hosts but still far away as they lose the first Test by 225 runs

It was a huge, confident appeal for lbw and was given out by the umpire straight away. An arm ball on off stump. Tiripano presses forward to defend and is probably beaten by the pace as he is struck on the pad. The umpire takes little time to raise his finger, but replays show tat there was a huge inside edge.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates’ post of the fifth and final day’s play between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in the first Test. The match is being played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, and there are no surprises in asserting that it is the Sri Lankan side which remains in control of the opening match. Sri Lanka have declared their second innings overnight, setting a massive target of 412 runs for the Zimbabwean team to win. Sri Lanka were 247 for 6 at stumps on the fourth day, and it can be said that their performance with the bat in the second innings was quite ordinary. Sri Lanka were 247 for 6 at stumps on the fourth day with a lead of 411 runs, which means that the tourists had already out-batted the frail Zimbabwean side. Dimuth Karunaratne was the star of the Sri Lankan innings as the left-handed batsman continued his good run on this tour of Zimbabwe. Karunaratke, who had scored a half-century in the first innings for Sri Lanka, fell for 110 off 173 balls with the help of 7 boundaries. The second top-scorer for Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe in their second innings was Dhananjaya de Silva, who scored a quickfire 62 off 84 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six.

Sri Lanka had amassed as many as 537 runs in their first innings, batting first, thinking that they will be able to make Zimbabwe bat twice. But the hosts sprang a surprise as they made a strong reply to the big Sri Lankan total, and easily managed to avoid the follow-on. For Sri Lanka, Karunaratne scored 56, while their other opener Kaushal Silva missed out on a Test hundred as he fell for 194-ball 94 with the help of 11 boundaries. Kusal Perera and Upul Tharanga scored 110 each, whereas Danushka Gunaratne managed 54. For Zimbabwe, Graeme Cremer was the pick among the bowlers with 4 for 142, but he had to bowl as many as 42 overs.
