Things are different this time as West Indies seem stronger and India are trying to build a side leading up to the big event. Catch the live blog of India vs West Indies 1st ODI here

The news from Kochi is that there is a threat of rain on Wednesday. Having an ODI in quick succession is new to Kochi and they would pray the gods relent and allow a full game. India enjoys a favourable record at the venue, having won six out of the ten games that they have played at the venue so far. West Indies are without some of their star players such as Chris Gayle and Sunil Narine and their absence will be felt through the ranks of the current squad.
