West Indies were 248 for 7 in their first innings of their rain-affected third and final Test against Australia, being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite smashed a fluent 85 and Carlos Brathwaite scored a maiden half-century as the West Indies tried to fight against Australia. For Australia, right-arm pacer James Pattinson claimed two wickets and the off-spinner Nathan Lyon too chipped in with two wickets. While Mitchell Marsh remained wicketless in his four overs, comeback man Steve O’Keefe claimed one wicket each. Australia lead the series 2-0 as they had won the first two Tests. Live Cricket Scorecard: Australia vs West Indies 2015-16, 3rd Test at Sydney

Both Kraigg and Carlos provided the West Indies some inspiration with the bat. While Kraigg dropped down the anchor and gave the other batsmen the opportunity to bat around him, Carlos played a brisk innings that pushed the Caribbean side closer to the 250-run mark.

It was yet another shabby display of batting from the Caribbean team, which flopped once again on this tour. The West Indies would have been hoping that the tour ends soon, but once again they have run into trouble against an in-form Australian team.

The play was hampered on the second day as relentless rains washed out a majority of the playing time. This was the first instance when rain interrupted in this Test series, which has been completely dominated by the Australian cricket team.

While both Kraigg and Carlos starred for the West Indies with the bat, it was latter’s rapid knock that stole the limelight. Carlos faced 71 balls, smashed seven boundaries and four sixes.
