England and Pakistan take on each other in what promises to be a electric Day One of the second Test at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The first match ended up being a tense draw after four days of relatively dull cricket with only batsmen having anything to cheer about. There were two double hundreds in the match with Alastair Cook doing the honours for England and Shoaib Malik for Pakistan. The double hundreds were special for both batsmen as it confirmed Cook’s return to complete form while for Malik it was a resounding response to the selectors faith in him after a five-year hiatus from the Test format. Pakistan will be boosted by the return of Yasir Shah in the second Test after he was forced to miss the first on account of a back spasm. Yasir will provide a bigger Test to the Englishmen given the sort of form he’s been enjoying. It will be crucial for him to live up to the expectations that rest on his shoulders. England will pin their hopes on Adil Rashid, also a leg-spinner, who helped turn the previous game on its head by taking a fifer in the final day of the opening Test at Abu Dhabi. There is also some talk that England may consider playing three spinners with Samit Patel being the benefactor if that is the case. Cook has expressed the desire to become the first team to beat Pakistan in a UAE Test series.
