Morne Morkel ensured that Alastair Cook would have to wait a little longer on Day 3 to enter the 10,000-club after the English skipper nicked one to the wicketkeeper to depart for 76. Rabada was handed the new ball for the 82nd over, and made great use of the opportunity as Root departed in a manner similar to that of Cook as well as on an identical score. It was the beginning of a gem of a spell from Rabada, as he took three wickets for just three runs in just 15 minutes or so, with England heading to lunch at a disastrous score of 211 for six.
