Live Updates

  • 12:02 AM IST

How plumb can it get ? hits the middle of the middle stump. India have created history here winning their first bilateral series in South Africa. The spinners did it again for the visitors. India lead the series 4-1.

  • 11:57 PM IST

OUT! The commentator mentioned about Shamsi doing a lot of talking while Kohli was batting and Kohli was seen doing the same with him. He hits one above but fails to cover the distance as Pandya takes a one handed catch avoiding a collision with Dhawan. Kohli is all amused and why wouldn’t he be.

  • 11:55 PM IST

OUT! Kuldeep is brave enough to toss the ball as Klaasen misses and Dhoni does the rest.

  • 11:51 PM IST

Kuldeep back into the attack after the 16 run over and gets Rabada on the very first ball. India just 3 wickets away from history.

  • 11:47 PM IST

South Africa need 83 off the last 10 overs. India surely on the top here, the only thing standing between a series is Klaasen. Rabada on the other hand has scored 2 off 14 balls, they will need him to rotate the strike more often.

  • 11:42 PM IST

Klaasen is fighting hard here with almost run a ball 36. Bumrah will be tested here, he has to prove his death bowling abilities.

  • 11:33 PM IST

Claas-en into the act now. Kuldeep being the tougher one to pick of the two wrist spinners has leaked 16 runs off the over. 88 to win for the host.

  • 11:30 PM IST

Run rate climbing to 8 an over now. Klaasen has to play the important knock here. Indian bowlers have kept things very tight, the last 5 overs gave away only 17 runs picking 2 wickets.

  • 11:23 PM IST

And the spinner gets a wicket of the first ball. Pehlukwayo did not pick it whatsoever. South Africa now 6 down.

  • 11:21 PM IST

Pehlukwayo has to play more than a cameo here. South Africa still need 108 runs to win. The spinners have still got 5 overs left.

  • 11:18 PM IST

OUT! This wicket could make all the difference in the match. Amla was going well, maybe this was the only way to get him out and Pandya doesn’t miss it.

  • 11:16 PM IST

This seems very close. Amla isn’t the quickest of all in the team. All depends on when the bails are off and the stump light up.

  • 11:14 PM IST

Bhuvneshwar back into the attack! Kohli is heard saying ‘ No boundaries boys’. Amla is timing the ball superbly now and still running hard for his runs.

  • 11:02 PM IST

Runs are flowing for South Africa now with Klaasen and Amla rotating strikes. Klaasen is new to the crease so a brace won’t affect him but Amla has been in the middle since 32 overs and has only hot 3 boundaries in his innings of 62. Can this be a concern for the host?

  • 10:56 PM IST

FOUR! Klaasen had cracked the Indian spinners last match itself and this is a proof of it. Good reflexes by the leg umpire.

  • 10:51 PM IST

Amla gets his 35th half century in 72 balls. South Africa need him to stay till the end and take them home. The host still need 141 runs off 20.3 overs.

  • 10:49 PM IST

Hardik Pandya has only conceded 21 runs off his 6 overs picking up the main wicket of AB and Duminy.

  • 10:40 PM IST

OUT! It was about time. Miller comes down the track and tries to slog a slow leg-spinner. He misses it completely.

  • 10:39 PM IST

FOUR! Amla paddle-sweeps. South Africa have been brilliant against spin tonight.

  • 10:36 PM IST

DROPPED! Of all the people, Ajinkya Rahane drops a catch. That was tough, though. Rahane is standing to close. Reprieve for Amla.

  • 10:30 PM IST

Amla on 35 off 56 and Miller 34 off 44. South Africa are slowly sucking away the momentum from India.

  • 10:04 PM IST

Miller is trapped in front. Chahal wants a review. Pitches in line. Hits in line. And misses the stumps. Kohli cannot believe it. India lose a review.

  • 9:44 PM IST

OUT! Pandya gets the big fish. AB de Villiers plays an uncharacteristic shot, trying to heave it away from his body. Pandya gets 2 wickets in 2 overs. India on a roll.

  • 9:34 PM IST

OUT! Pandya comes round the wicket and makes Duminy poke a length ball. Extra bounce does the trick. Rohit Sharma, at second-slip, takes it cleanly. South Africa lose 2 wickets for 3 runs.

  • 9:29 PM IST

Was that a drop? No, Dhoni would not drop. That fell slightly short. Brilliant delivery by Bumrah. Duminy survives.

  • 9:26 PM IST

OUT! Bumrah induces a leading edge. Kohli takes an easy catch at mid-off. Markram goes for 32.

  • 9:15 PM IST

SIX! No one deep square-leg. Markram flicks a half-volley over the boundary line. South Africa have the momentum by their side. India need wickets.

  • 9:13 PM IST

Oh, dear! Shreyas drops Makram. Bumrah’s hard work goes in vain. This is Shreyas’ second drop in 2 matches.

  • 8:55 PM IST

FOUR! Bumrah aims the middle stump. Amla shuffles and flicks it to the leg-side boundary. The track had not produced enough lateral movement for the Indian pacers.

  • 8:50 PM IST

FOUR! That was beautifully driven past point. Hashim Amla at his best. Bhuvi needs to bowl straight, exploiting Amla’s weakness.

Good morning/ afternoon! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of India vs South Africa 2017-18. This is the fifth ODI at Port Elizabeth and here you will get all the live scores and updates from the match. India have dominated the ODI leg of their tour, taking a 3-0 lead but South Africa staged a comeback with a victorious pink ODI. A win in the fifth ODI will seal the series for the visitors while it will keep the hopes of the hosts to end the series in a draw. South Africa, plagued by injuries, have struggled remarkably against Indian spinners. Under young captain Aiden Markram, they failed to act as a unit until the previous match. Heinrich Klaasen’s stand-out performance outdid India as well as Shikhar Dhawan’s 109-run effort. The hosts will surely want to carry forward the momentum from the game and keep the series alive. As Klaasen said in an interview after the match, South Africa got back their lost confidence with the victory. There was very little that Virat Kohli and his army did wrong in the last match. The only noticeable difference from their previous performances was the poor show of the bowlers. With that repaired, India look to pose a strong challenge for South Africa to save the series.
