Hello and a warm welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and coverage of the Sri Lanka versus West Indies  match in the T20 World Cup. This is Rishad D’Souza, and I will be bringing you the live cricket scores and live cricket updates of the Match No. 21 in the T20 World Cup, to be played at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Sri Lanka are coming off a victory, against the lower-ranked Afghanistan, even though it was not a convincing win, while West Indies having mauled England will be high on confidence. With match being played at Bangaluru, one can only expect runs a plenty. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Sri Lanka vs West Indies, T20 World Cup 2016, Match 21 at Bangalore

The man of the match was barely a difficult call for the judges, Andre Fletcher it is. Was a great knock indeed.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 127/3 | 18.2 overs | Andre Fletcher 84(64), Andre Russell 20(8): Russell finishes off in style off Thisara Perera. With a four and a six to sign off what has been a fantastic chase by West Indies. But the glamour imparted by Russell at the end will not take away from the substance Fletcher imparted to the chase through course of the innings.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 116/3 | 18 overs | Andre Fletcher 82(63), Andre Russell 10(6): So that leaves West Indies with a very gettable 7 runs to get from the final two overs. Sri Lanka have been abysmal in the field. Nuwan Kulasekara dropped a dolly offered by Andre Russell of a thick outside edge at third man.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 110/3 | 17 overs | Andre Fletcher 79(59), Andre Russell 9(5): Now it looks like any outside chance for Sri Lanka has also been eliminated. Russell is getting into the act now. Smashed an emphatic four the third ball. Two balls later Fletcher scored a boundary, further taking West Indies towards the target. Kulasekara failed to get any control.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 99/3 | 16 overs | Andre Fletcher 72(54), Andre Russell 4(3): Fletcher was almost out, but the catch by the keeper of the edge seems to have bumped just a centimetre in front of the keeper. The third umpire rules in Fletcher’s favour. He stays, Bangalore may have to go home without seeing Gayle bat today.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 94/3 | 15 overs | Andre Fletcher 71(49), Andre Russell 4(3): Special performance by Fletcher. He takes Siriwardana on and smashes the first couple of balls for sixes. Breaks all the building pressure with those hits. Russell compounds Sri Lanka’s worries with a boundary of the final delivery.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 75/3 | 14 overs | Andre Fletcher 56(44), Andre Russell 0(2): Vandersay is getting bowled out. Brave captaincy, but smart nonetheless. Waiting for too long and the match can be lost anyway, might as well go down trying. Vandersay keeps it nice and tight, asks questions, but the batsmen play him sensibly. Just three runs from that over.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 72/3 | 13 overs | Andre Fletcher 53(39), Andre Russell 0(1): Fletcher has shown great sense of application against the spinners, but not so with his partners. Denesh Ramdin is the next to bite the dust, bowled by Siriwardana for five runs of 13 balls as he attempts a mighty slog. Russell is the new man in. Meanwhile Fletcher has gone past a well-deserved fifty. He needs to stay in there longer.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 67/2 | 12 overs | Andre Fletcher 48(35), Denesh Ramdin 5(12): Sri Lanka reverting to some pace for now, important that the pacers at least keep the scoring down to build pressure even if they can’t make a breakthrough. Chameera has bowled well this over. Has shown nice control.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 63/2 | 11 overs | Andre Fletcher 46(33), Denesh Ramdin 3(8): Siriwardana very nearly made another breakthrough there and it could have been the big fish in Fletcher. He goes for the drive and it is just wide of cover. The pressure is showing on the West Indians.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 56/2 | 10 overs | Andre Fletcher 41(31), Denesh Ramdin 1(4): Herath has been bowled out. He concedes just two runs in his final over. The spinners are getting some purchase now. This could be very threatening for the West Indians. They need to maintain their calm.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 54/2 | 9 overs | Andre Fletcher 40(26), Denesh Ramdin 0(3): Siriwardana has removed Samuels! Samuels wanted to stamp his authority, stepped down but did not get to the pitch of the ball, the ball turned and the keeper collected and whipped the bails of. Do Sri lanka have a chance now?

Live cricket scores | West Indies 52/1 | 8 overs | Andre Fletcher 39(25), Marlon Samuels 2(10): Smart batting by Fletcher, he attacks the fifth delivery of an over that was very good otherwise and sends the ball soaring over deep midwicket boundary. Just one run of the over apart from that.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 45/1 | 7 overs | Andre Fletcher 33(23), Marlon Samuels 1(6): Herath continues, he’s not looking as threatening as Vandersay, but now with the powerplay over, he might be able to bowl with more control. Concedes six runs in that over. Releases a lot of built up pressure with a loose fifth delivery which Fletcher cuts for FOUR!

Live cricket scores | West Indies 39/1 | 6 overs | Andre Fletcher 28(19), Marlon Samuels 0(4): And now Vandersay has his man! Charles tried to guide it to third man but chops it on instead! Vandersay keeps that over to a maiden, maybe this could give Sri lanka some hope! OUT! Johnson Charles 10(13) b Vandersay

Live cricket scores | West Indies 39/0 | 5 overs | Johnson Charles 10(11), Andre Fletcher 28(19): Sri Lanka are sticking with the spin of Herath even though he went for a few runs in the previous over. Keeps it tight for most of the over, but concedes a boundary the final ball.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 30/0 | 4 overs | Johnson Charles 7(8), Andre Fletcher 22(16): Vandersay could be the hero Sri Lanka needs. A fantastic first over that. Almost got a wicket first ball, Charles could have been caught at midwicket, but the chance was shelled by Chamara Kapugedera. Only one run comes of that over.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 29/0 | 3 overs | Johnson Charles 6(6), Andre Fletcher 22(12): Nuwan Kulasekara looks to make an impact, but no wicket. Sri Lanka’s chances looking very slim at this stage, they need a couple of quick wickets.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 23/0 | 2 overs | Johnson Charles 1(2), Andre Fletcher 22(10): A change in discipline of bowler has not affected a change in fortunes for Sri Lanka. Veteran Rangana Herath treated with as much disdain by Fletcher who scores a six and four of him. The match is already looking a lost cause for the Lankans.

Live cricket scores | West Indies 13/0 | 1 over | Johnson Charles 1(2), Andre Fletcher 12(4): The Banglare crowd wants Chris Gayle, but they can’t have him, not now anyway as he’s suffering a niggle, which is being assessed. But initial impressions are that the crowd will not miss out on a whole lot of action. Fletcher has made his intentions clear with a six and a four of Mathews in the very first over.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 122/9 | 20 overs | Jeffrey Vandersay 0(1), Dushmantha Chameera 0(0): That’s a fine over by Dwayne Bravo to finish things of. Concedes just three runs the first three balls. Then there is some athletic brilliance on his part the next ball. Herath tries to steal a single after the ball hits his pad, but Bravo swoops on the ball and effects a direct hit to the non-striker’s end, Herath has to go back. Next ball is a low full toss, but Perera can’t get the all of it and is caught at long on. OUT! Rangana Herath 3(3) run out, OUT! Thisara Perera 40(29) c Russell b Bravo

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 118/7 | 19 overs | Thisara Perera 38(26), Rangana Herath 2(1): Russell, the most expensive bowler on the day, comes on for his last over. Concedes a boundary of the second ball to Perera, but keeps it tight thereafter and even castles Nuwan Kulasekara. Eight runs come of that over. OUT! Nuwan Kulasekara 7(8) b Russell

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 110/6 | 18 overs | Thisara Perera 33(23), Nuwan Kulasekara 6(6): Thisara Perera has shown great resolve to steady the faltering innings, and is now putting his clean-hitting abilities on display. Smashes Brathwaite for a four and then follows it up with a massive six  over deep square leg. 16 runs come of that over. They should look to score at least 130 from here, that could prove a decent challenge.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 94/6 | 17 overs | Thisara Perera 22(20), Nuwan Kulasekara 2(3): That dismissal is strange on multiple counts. It was a loopy, slow full toss, Mathews tried to sway out of the line, but the ball gets the top edge of his bat for Ramdin to catch. The third umpire is called in to see if it is a fair delivery as it was quite high. Mathews was ducking at point of impact, so the third umpire has to assess if it would have been over or under his waist height at normal stance, and he judges against Mathews! That’s another wicket. OUT! Angelo Mathews 20(32) c Ramdin b Bravo

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 90/5 | 16 overs | Angelo Mathews 20(31), Thisara Perera 21(18): Few runs starting to come for Sri Lanka now. Brathwaite bowled a waist high full toss that was hit for FOUR, and it was called a no ball too. Perera failed to make most of the subsequent free-hit though.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 81/5 | 15 overs | Angelo Mathews 18(29), Thisara Perera 15(13): That’s Benn in for his final over, has been incredibly economical. Bowls one poor ball in the over, a full toss, and Perera crunches it straight down the ground for FOUR! That’s a welcome relief. Four singles come in the over besides that. Eight runs come of that over, he conceded just five in his previous three combined!

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 73/5 | 14 overs | Angelo Mathews 16(26), Thisara Perera 9(10): Russell has been the least effective of all bowlers. He comes on for another, gets hit for a boundary second ball, but keeps it tight thereafter. Only six runs of it. He has conceded 26 runs in his three overs.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 67/5 | 13 overs | Angelo Mathews 15(25), Thisara Perera 4(5): Another very economical over by Benn! Just two runs off it. Sri Lanka are seeing the sense in playing him out. Only two runs from that over.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 65/5 | 12 overs | Angelo Mathews 14(20), Thisara Perera 3(4): Sri Lanka are looking desperately crippled at the moment. Mathews is key here, if Sri Lanka are to get past even 120. Thisara Perera needs to bide his time too, so that they can launch after over 15. Another wicket here could spell certain death.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 57/5 | 11 overs | Angelo Mathews 9(15), Thisara Perera 2(3): Sri Lanka are struggling big time against the spinners. Suliemann Benn has been bowling very smartly, no wickets yet, but has been incredibly economical, built the pressure. Only three runs off that over.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 54/5 | 10 overs | Angelo Mathews 7(10), Thisara Perera 2(2): That’s a good over for Sri Lanka by standards of what’s been happening in the recent overs. Only five runs, but no wicket at least. These two are perhaps the last recognised batting pair. They need to build a partnership.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 49/5 | 9 overs | Angelo Mathews 3(5), Thisara Perera 1(1): Badree is back on, already has a scalp to his name. And he strikes first ball again. Kapugedera tried to go down the pitch and hit it down leg but misses, Ramdin doesn’t fluff the stumping chance behind. Not looking good for Sri Lanka at all! And what are Sri Lanka doing? Another wicket! Siriwardana nicks off to slip where Gayle takes an easy catch! OUT! Chamara Kapugedera 6(10) st Ramdin b Badree, OUT! Siriwardana 0(3) c Gayle b Badree

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 47/3 | 8 overs | Chamara Kapugedera 6(9), Angelo Mathews 2(4): Sri Lanka are involved in a heavy struggle at the moment, that over by Brathwaite yields Sri Lanka just four runs. They need a partnership here. Ideally they should focus on batting out a few overs cautiously, rather than losing wickets.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 43/3 | 7 overs | Chamara Kapugedera 5(5), Angelo Mathews 1(2): Badree strikes in his third over, getting rid of the iffy Lahiru Thirimanne. Thirimanne tried to drive the ball but got the thick outside edge to the man at point. OUT! Lahiru Thirimanne 5(7) c Fletcher b Badree

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 41/2 | 6 overs | Lahiru Thirimanne 5(6), Chamara Kapugedera 4(2): The decision to bring back Andre Russell is interesting, but does West Indies no good. He gets hit for a couple of boundaries, one each by both batsmen. Releases some of the pressure.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 32/2 | 5 overs | Lahiru Thirimanne 0(2): Oh no! Sri Lanka are capitulating in the powerplay. The pressure created by the slower bowlers coupled with their frustration of not being able to capitalise on the field restrictions is showing. Chandimal has been run out, he hit it towards cover and beat one fielder but there is a man immediately behind him, yet the batsmen set out for a fatal run. Charles was the fielder. OUT! Dinesh Chandimal 16(18) run out

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 30/1 | 4 overs | Dinesh Chandimal 14(12), Lahiru Thirimanne 0(2): Brathwaite has got Dilshan leg before! The pressure has taken it’s toll. On first instance it looked like a poor judgement by the umpire, going down leg. The TV replays confirm that it is indeed a poor call by Aleem Dar. Dilshan has to go anyway. Later in the over Chandimal smashed a six in a bid to release some of the pressure. OUT! Tillakaratne Dilshan 12(10) lbw Brathwaite

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 20/0 | 3 overs | Tillakaratne Dilshan 12(9), Dinesh Chandimal 6(9): The spinners are tightening the screws after that loose first over by Andre Russell. Dinesh Chandimal has looked very uncomfortable. Dilshan has not managed to get the ball away either. Great over by Sulieman Benn, conceding just one run.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 19/0 | 2 overs | Tillakaratne Dilshan 11(5), Dinesh Chandimal 6(7): Great over by Samuel Badree. In the first five deliveries he conceded just two runs but the final ball was swept for four backward of square.

Live cricket scores | Sri Lanka 13/0 | 1 over | Tillakaratne Dilshan 10(4), Dinesh Chandimal 1(2): Dilshan has made his intent clear very soon hitting Dilshan for a six and a four in the very first over. Chandimal looked watchful in that over. Andre Russell needs to get his act right, did not bowl the right lines and lengths.

Teams:

West Indies XI: Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, Marlon Samuels, Andre Fletcher, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Darren Sammy (c), Carlos Brathwaite, Samuel Badree, Sulieman Benn

Sri Lanka XI: Tillakaratne Dilshan, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Lahiru Thirimanne, Chamara Kapugedera, Angelo Mathews (c), Milinda Siriwardana, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Jeffrey Vandersay, Dushmantha Chameera, Rangana Herath

TOSS: West Indies win toss and choose to field first

Sri Lanka backed up by performances from veterans like Tillakaratne Dilshan and Rangana Herath. If Sri Lanka are to beat West Indies, they will need almost the whole team to contribute. West Indies are coming of from a brilliant run-chase against England, with Gayle smashing an unbeaten 100* and Marlon Samuels.West Indian bowlers were not very impressive in the first game, only Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell were somewhat decent. Sri Lankan side did come into the tournament facing many questions about the quality and depth of their squad, while it unlikely that captain Darren Sammy will chop and change the players he drafted in West Indies playing XI.

Squads:

West Indies: Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Darren Sammy (c), Ashley Nurse, Jason Holder, Jerome Taylor, Samuel Badree, Sulieman Benn, Andre Fletcher, Evin Lewis.

Sri Lanka: Dushmantha Chameera, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Rangana Herath, Shehan Jayasuriya, Chamara Kapugedera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews (c), Thisara Perera, Sachithra Senanayake, Dasun Shanaka, Milinda Siriwardana, Lahiru Thirimanne.
