DD 142/8 in 20 overs, Mishra 8*, Zaheer 1*: All over! DD have made a mockery of the chase. They were always in the game courtesy Pant’s free flowing innings. But no one stood up to the challenge. Needlessly going for the glory shots, they lost Billings, Brathwaite, Cummins before Mishra spoiled it totally for them. Watson gave the ball to Pawan Negi in the final over with 19 to defend and he made full use of the pressure mounting on Pant to dismiss him and Nadeem in quick succession.

In the end, only 3 came off the 20th over as RCB walk off with a 15-run win. RCB’s campaign back on track in IPL 10. DD should be disheartened with their lacklustre batting performance. That’s it from CricketCountry on this match. Stay tuned for the match report on this game and other updates related to cricket on our site. Thank you all, goodnight!

DD 139/7 in 19 overs, Pant 57*, Mishra 6*: Disastrious! Mishraji, what were you thinking? What are you doing there? He has completely spoiled the momentum for DD. Only 2, yes you heard it right, coming from the penultimate over. Watson does a commendable job bowling the wide off and full, knowing Mishra was eyeing the leg side. DD need 19 off 6 balls. Tough, really tough for Pant and co. Wait, is that Pawan Negi to bowl the last over??? All happening out there.
  • 11:33 PM IST
DD 137/7 in 18 overs, Pant 56*, Mishra 5*: It was all going well for RCB. Going for only 5 off the first 5 balls, Pant anticipated a slower bouncer and pounced on it early. It went for a maximum to relieve some pressure in DD camp. DD require 21 in 12…

Abhishek Bhattacharya says: “Its because of talents such as Rishabh Pant that the IPL has completed 10 years.” Or is the other way around?

    Well said, Mr. Bhattacharya!
  • 11:26 PM IST
DD 126/7 in 17 overs, Pant 49*, Mishra 1*: It’s 70:30 in favour of RCB. Only Pant, like I have been mentioning for so long, can pull it off for DD. Absolutely no one is willing to stick around with the left-hander. Pressure mounting on the young lad as Watson concedes only 5 in the 17th over. Equation- 32 off 18 balls.
  • 11:19 PM IST
DD 121/6 in 16 overs, Pant 49*, Cummins 2*: 8 coming off Tymal Mills’ over as both teams head for the final time out. This is turning out to be cracking contest. It all lies on Pant’s shoulders to take DD past the finishing line. After going through a personal tragedy, he is timing the ball explicitly. As if he is batting on a different track. All he needs is Cummins to give him strike and he can blast some big hits from time to time.
  • 11:14 PM IST

  • 11:13 PM IST
DD 113/6 in 15 overs, Pant 43*, Cummins 0*: Drama brewing in Chinnaswammy stadium. Chahal bowls a beautiful over. He gives away a single and gets rid of Brathwaite. The fourth ball had him trapped in front but the umpire seemed uninterested. There was no edge and the ball would have gone to hit the stumps. Nonetheless, there was no damage done as Brathwaite, failing to read a flighted delivery, went for a glory shot to get clean bowled. Pat Cummins joins Pant in the middle.

It’s getting tense out there. DD need 45 off 30 balls.
  • 11:07 PM IST
DD 112/5 in 14 overs, Pant 42*, Brathwaite 1*: Watson keeps the over down to 5 runs. Brathwaite taking his time. He will like to stick around and use the long handle to good effect in the end overs. Pant needs someone to stick around and take DD home.
  • 11:02 PM IST

DD 107/ 5 in 13 overs, Pant 38* : Iqball Abdulla has got the breakthrough. Apart from conceding 13 runs, he has trapped Chris Morris lbw. The ball didn’t spin much as Morris was caught in between and tried to flick it across leg side. He missed, the ball clipped his pads and caught him plumbed in front. So an important wicket at a crucial juncture of the game.

  • 10:55 PM IST
DD 94/4 in 12 overs, Pant 27*, Morris 3*: Nine coming off Watson;s over. The equation is certainly in DD’s favour. They need to do nothing silly out there. Pant is striking the ball from the middle of the blade whereas Morris can join him anytime in between. 64 required off 48 balls.
  • 10:51 PM IST
DD 85/4 in 11 overs, Pant 20*, Morris 1*: An eventful over comes to an end. Stanlake was brought back by Watson. He conceded a four courtesy a blooper from Mills at third man. What followed was some short stuff which resulted in Samson’s dismissal. Chris Morris comes out to bat. He and Pant will have to play out majority of the overs if DD have to win this. Meanwhile, Watson shuffling with his main bowlers as he knows his side has a modest score to defend.
  • 10:45 PM IST

  • 10:35 PM IST
DD 65/3 in 8 overs, Pant 7*, Samson 8*: Another damage done to DD’s chase. They lose Sam Billings as he went for a drive, it hit the bottom to give a simple catch to Stanlake at gully. Rishabh Pant finally comes out to bat at No. 5. He makes his presence felt by smacking a huge six, dancing down the track, to Iqbal Abdulla. That is some way of announcing his arrival. Pant-Samson will have to take up some responsibilities and steer their side in this chase.
  • 10:28 PM IST
DD 53/2 in 7 overs, Billings 24*, Samson 6*: 10 coming off Chahal’s over as Billing sends one into the stands with an amazingly anticipated reverse sweep. Billings will have to take calculative risks to keep the runs coming.
  • 10:25 PM IST
DD 43/2 in 6 overs, Billings 16*, Samson 4*: Billy Stanlake finishes a brilliant over. He rips apart Karun Nair’s stumps on a cracker of a delivery. Nair anticipated the ball to come at him but it held its length and with minimal foot movement, he is clean bowled by Stanlake. Game on at Bengaluru. Sanju Samson, at No. 4, and Sam Billings will have to bat properly and bail DD from a tough position.
  • 10:17 PM IST
DD 37/1 in 5 overs, Billings 14*, Nair 4*: Brilliant start from Tymal Mills. He gets rid of Aditya Tare, who was never looking impressive. He needlessly shuffled and moved across the crease and paid the price. Beaten by pace, Mills rattles his stumps to get RCB off the mark. Nair is the new man in at 3. Why no Rishabh Pant?
  • 10:11 PM IST
DD 32/0 in 4 overs, Billings 13*, Tare 18*: Iqbal Abdulla brought in from the other end. Watson is again shuffling with his bowlers, like he did vs SRH. No luck yet as Abdulla goes for 11 in his first over. He managed to get an edge off Tare’s blade but it went for a four. Billings, on the other hand, is ensuring DD are getting the singles from time to time.
  • 10:09 PM IST
DD 21/0 in 3 overs, Billings 9*, Tare 11*: Not a bad over from Stanlake. He is punished for two fours on the first and last ball of the over, but applies the brakes on the remaining balls. However, the Australian will have to realize that he cannot swing it under these conditions. He is trying that and as a result, went for some runs in this over. In India, it doesn’t swing, buddy!
  • 10:03 PM IST
DD 13/0 in 2 overs, Billings 9*, Tare 3*: A tidy over as Shane Watson sticks with Yuzvendra Chahal from the other end. He is accustomed to bowling in the powerplays. He tosses up the balls and bowls fuller, backing himself to deliver the goods. DD start carefully as Chahal goes for only 4 in his first over. He will hold fort for RCB, just like Nadeem. He is a much improved bowler and will be one to look out for in this chase.
  • 9:59 PM IST
DD 9/0 in 1 over, Billings 7*, Tare 1*: Billy Stanlake starts the proceedings for RCB. Impressive over. He began really well by steaming in hard and bowling in the block holes. Nonetheless, the Australian drifted a bit with his length in the last few balls to give some easy runs to Billings. A few fine flicks to finish the over as DD are off and rolling.
  • 9:41 PM IST
RCB 157/8 in 20 overs, Iqbal Abdulla 5*: That’s it from RCB innings. Morris completes his spell and RCB’s innings by conceding only 7 in the final over. He went for a maximum, missing his length, in the second ball. However, he more than made up for it with two wickets (rattling Pawan Negi and Tymal Mills’ stumps).
RCB began in a flurry but were retained back in the middle over courtesy Nadeem’s economical spell. Nonetheless, Jadhav was hammering DD bowlers and helped himself to his highest IPL score. His dismissal changed the complexion of the game and restricted RCB under 165. DD should be content with their efforts and with dew creeping in, they should be able to add 2 points under their kitty. Chase begins in 15-20 mins…
  • 9:35 PM IST
RCB 150/6 in 19 overs, Negi 4*, Abdulla 4*: Last four overs have given away only 29 and sent two RCB batsmen back to the hut. Brilliant. This match has swung from one corner to another. Nonetheless, DD’s investments on strengthening their bowling arsenal is paying rich dividends. Cummins completes the penultimate over giving away 6 runs. He followed the batsmen by bowling it short and full.
  • 9:30 PM IST
RCB 142/6 in 18 overs, Negi 0*: DD will be ecstatic to see two new batsmen in the last few over. This is what wickets can do. Just two comes off Morris’ over. Two more to go. How much will RCB get? 165 looks tough now. They were looking at above 180 with Jadhav in the middle.
Morris tested Abdulla-Negi by bowling short of a length, full length and yorkers. Clearly, giving nothing away.
  • 9:27 PM IST

  • 9:26 PM IST
RCB 142/6 in 17 overs, Negi 0*: Two wickets in this over for Zak and DD. However, they will be much relieved to see the back of Jadhav. He was going bonkers. Zak mixed it up and bowled the slower one to dismiss Jadhav who again backed himself to play a huge shot going on the back foot. Caught at mid off by Morris. This will affect RCB’s total by at least 20 runs. Vishnu Vinod also departed, running himself out to a flat throw by Nadeem. So two new batsmen at the crease, Negi and Iqbal Abdulla, for the home side.
  • 9:20 PM IST

RCB 134/4 in 16 overs, Jadhav 68*, Vinod 2*: Whoa! Jadhav is going berserk here at Bengaluru. Brathwaite is hammered all round the park. He bowls length deliveries and Jadhav sits back, deep in his crease, clears his feet and goes under the ball. A four and a six to finish off the over.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket updates of Match No 5 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Daredevils (DD). The match will be played at Shane Watson-led side’s home ground the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. I, Aditya Sahay, will bring you the match updates from my cubicle, which has a small indoor cricket pitch besides it (passage). Challengers will be hurting from their loss in the first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), while this will be the first time we will witness Dilli ke Dilwale in action in the 10th season of the T20 extravaganza. Full Cricket Scorecard, Gujarat Lions vs Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2017, Match 3

RCB suffered an imposing defeat in the opening game of IPL, losing to SRH by 35 runs. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers will sit out of action for RCB once again with Shane Watson continuing as skipper. RCB’s middle order in Mandeep Singh, Travis Head, Kedar Jadav, Stuart Binny and Sachin Baby needs to come good in absence of their stalwarts. Bowling again will rely much on the duo of Tymal Mills and Yuzvendra Chahal.

DD, on the other hand, have a thin-looking batting line-up to cope with. With Quinton de Kock, Angelo Mathews and JP Duminy unavailable for the whole season, onus will lie on the likes of Carlos Brathwaite, Sam Billings and Corey Anderson. Their Indian contingent looks strong with the likes of Sanju Samson, Jayant Yadav, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami and captain Zaheer Khan himself. DD will expect Pat Cummins, Kagiso Radaba and Chris Morris to come good. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer will miss out in first few games for DD citing personal reasons.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Shane Watson, Virat Kohli, Kedar Jadhav, Stuart Binny, Iqbal Abdullah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sreenath Aravind, Tymal Mills, Avesh Khan, Samuel Badree, Praveen Dubey, Travid Head, Mandeep Singh, Adam Milne, Pawan Negi, Harshal Patel, Sachin Baby, Tabraiz Shamsi, Billy Stanlake.
