Live Score CLT20 Qualifiers: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Somerset

Somerset will look for a win against KKR in a must win game

By CricketCountry Staff

Somerset and Kolkata find themselves in a fairly straighforward situation ahead of the last qualifying match: win and go through to the Champions League. Whichever side wins this match will be assured of a passage into the main tournament, while the losers might have a whole lot of tedious work to do with calculators to know whether or not they are going through.

The IPL team will have had their confidence considerably boosted by their spirited defense of a target of 121 in their previous match, especially because they were without Gautam Gambhir, but they will want their performance to step up a notch for this match and – if they get through – for the Champions League itself. The batting, in particular, has to be looked at.

After looking as if they were out of the match against Auckland for a long while, Somerset managed to sneak in a last-ball victory that has made their qualifying chances considerably more secure. Not that winning the match meant Somerset got everything right – they still have some areas to work on. Much like their opponents Kolkata, Somerset’s batting too unravelled in the middle overs against Auckland.
