Indian Premier League 2011 runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on South Africa s Warriors in the first match of the Champions League T20 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Friday.

The franchisee came close to winning a trophy but fell at the final hurdle.

Finishing runner-up is not what Vijay Mallya would like. There will be pressure on Daniel Vettori and gold and red-clad legion to lay their hands on the elusive title.

Man-to-man, Warriors are a better side, with South African national players forming the core. But Botha and his accomplished Warriors would be wary of the big-hitting Chris Gayle.

If the towering Jamaican, who is although desperately short of match practice, gets cracking, the Warriors could be blown over the Indian Ocean.

Tillakartane Dilshan and De Viliers can also be ruthless on their day, but Gayle is of another league when it comes to power batting. The left hander can be brutally aggressive.

No bowler would like to bowl at him when he is in full flow. RCB would be hoping that he does just what he did in the last edition of the IPL.

Teams:

RCB: Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Mohd Kaif, Saurab Tiwary, Daniel Vettori, Abhimanyu Mithun, J Syed Mohammad, Dirk Nannes, Sreenath Aravind

Warriors: Ashwell Prince, Colin Ingram, JJ Smuts, Mark Boucher, Johan Botha, Craig Thyssen, Justin Kreusch, Nicky Boje, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Rust Theron, Wayne Parnell
