MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja added unbeaten 65 runs for the sixth wicket as India beat England by five wickets and seal series win by 3-0 at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali.

Dhoni remained unbeaten on 35, while Jadeja was not out on 26.

Earlier, Ajinkya Rahane missed on his maiden international ton when he was dismissed for 91 off 104 balls, which included six boundaries.

Gautam Gambhir played a fine innings of 58 off 60 balls, hitting three boundaries and a six.

Parthiv Patel and Rahane provided India a confident start adding 79 runs for the first wicket in 15.4 overs.

Tim Bresnan provided England the first breakthrough when he dismissed Patel for 38. Patel s innings of 38 off 46 balls included three boundaries.

Earlier, half-centuries from Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen and Samit Patel helped England reach 298 for four at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Trott missed on a century by two runs as he remained not out on 98, facing 116 balls and hitting nine boundaries.

Patel played a rapid innings of 70 not out off 44 balls, studded with seven boundaries and two sixes.

Kevin Pietersen and Trott s 101-run stand for the fourth wicket set England a good platform for a big score.

England, after deciding to bat first, lost their skipper Alastair Cook for three early. Craig Kieswetter hit two sixes and three boundaries for his 38-ball 36.
