Pakistan will play New Zealand in the second Test match of the three-match series at Dubai on Monday. The Kiwis were hammered by 248 runs in the first Test, with Tom Latham’s century being the only bright point for them. Pakistan’s batting order continues to be totally in control, and Younis Khan and Misbah-ul Haq are using the wisdom that comes with age to score big runs.

Pakistan have played impressive cricket in the last couple of months. They have managed to overcome an impressive side like Australia and now have a 1-0 advantage against New Zealand. At this moment, the Pakistan side looks outstanding. In the last Test match against New Zealand, only top five batsmen were employed to duty while the lower middle-order was not even required to add runs with the bat. Mohammad Hafeez who was reported for suspect bowling action looks doubtful for the game at Dubai and could see Shan Masood coming in as his replacement.

The overall aggregate for Pakistan with the bat in the first match is 740 for five which shows the level of dominance. Ahmed Shehzad, who was struck on head in the first innings, has not been replaced by Pakistan so far. However, Taufeeq Umar is expected to be seen in an opening role. The bowling attack looks well set with two quality spinners and two fast-bowlers in good form. But Hafeez will be missed in the bowling department and someone would have to pitch in his overs.
