Maharoof recalled for England Test as cover for Fernando

All-rounder Farveez Maharoof has been recalled to the Sri Lanka squad for the first Test against England to begin on Sunday, May 26 in Cardiff as a cover for injured Dilhara Fernando.

Fernando is carrying pain in his knee, but still played in their warm-up game against England Loins, which Sri Lanka won by 38 runs.

26-year-old Maharoof last made a Test appearance in 2007, but the absence of senior players who were involved in the Indian Premier League, and his tremendous form in the ongoing County season made selectors to give him a call.

Meanwhile, Nuwan Pradeep is likely to make his Test debut for Sri Lanka in Cardiff.
