Middle-order batsman Mahmudullah scored a crucial knock of 75 to help Bangladesh to post 247 for nine in the third and final ODI against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo.

Winning the toss and electing to field, Zimbabwe had a great start as opener Brian Vitori struck twice in two deliveries in the fourth over. First he sent back opener Mohammad Ashraful who gave a simple catch to Vusi Sibanda as gully and then cleaned up Jaharul Islam. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal tried to straighten the mess and added 62 runs for the third wicket.

However, Tendai Chatara got his side a crucial breakthrough when he dismissed Rahim in the 19th over. Rahim fell for 32. Three overs later, Iqbal followed suit to leave the visitors in a precarious position at 84 for four in the 22nd over. Bangladesh lost half their side in the 28th over with the score at 110 as Shakib al Hasan threw his wicket away.

The Zimbabwe bowlers were right on the money, with five of them picking up nine wickets amongst them.

Middle-order batsmen Nasir Hossain and Mahmudullah came together and began the rescue work. They added 79 runs for the sixth wicket to keep the visitors in the match. Hossain eventually fell after making a fluent 63 but Mahmudullah carried on till the end to help his side post a strong total.
