Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have a set a target of 171 runs for Deccan Chargers (DC) in the 53rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Â
Mandeep Singh, KXIP opening batsmantop scored for the visitors with 75 runs. He gave a blistering start as he along with Shaun marhs added 55 runs for the opening wicket.
Â
The Australian batsman was dismissed for 22 runs by part-time spinner Shikhar Dhawan which brought the in-form Nitin Saini in action. Saini was soon dismissed by A Ashish Reddy for just 2 runs. Reddy looked the best bowler for the home team.
Â
But the dismissal of the explosive Mandeep brought the scoring rate down and Deccan further made inroads into the Punjab batting.
Â
However, David Miller’s (unbeaten 28 off 18 balls) aggressive stroke-play in death overs proved to be crucial as the visitors reached a respectable total.
Â
Brief Score: KXIPÂ 170 for 5 in 20 overs (Mandeep Singh 75, David Miller 28*, Shaun marsh 22; A Ashish Reddy 2 for 39, Veer Pratap Singh 1 for 45) vs DCÂ
