Manish Pandey has played a scintillating knock in the fifth One-Day International of the series between India and Australia and has brought up his maiden international hundred in the process. His knock has come under a highly pressurising situation and is very commendable. His knock has taken India to victory. Pandey scored his hundred with a strike-rate of well over 100. He was unperturbed by the pressure being created by the dot balls at the other end and went about his job in sangfroid manner. He brought up the century in the final over of the game with a four to third man. He smashed the next ball to long off for a couple of runs to fittingly take India home. This will be a knock he remembers for a long time. Live Cricket Scorecard: India vs Australia 2015-16, 5th ODI at Sydney

Pandey walked out to bat with India at 134 for two, having just lost Virat Kohli cheaply which meant the balance of the game had tilted slightly in Australia’s favour. Yet Pandey, despite his inexperience, scored at a fantastic rate without ever taking an unnecessary risk. His knock definitely gave India the edge in the final game of the series.

India were desperately seeking to avoid the blushes of a whitewash. They have been fantastic with the bat in the four games earlier but have been eclipsed by their Australian counterparts in each game. They have managed to end the otherwise grim series on a positive note. Earlier, Rohit Sharma was on the verge of a century but was dismissed one short of the mark.
